All former bets are off. All your past 20th Century ideas about who is fit to be President.
From here on out, the President is going to have to be a Military Man, hopefully moving up from the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff or one of the Joint Chiefs.
And not some guy who was a Platoon leader someplace--he is going to have to be an Admiral or General Officer.
The U.S. is now an Army with a State, not a State with an Army. This is going to be necessary because the 21st Century will be a struggle for the U.S. to maintain it's dominance of the Globe.
They finally completed their 100 year program. We are #1. There are other ruling classes who want to be #1 or don't like it.
We are Rome. Babylon. Ming China. Byzantium. The Ottoman Empire. The British Empire.
All the #2's and 3s are going to come after the oil and the markets.
Whoever is in the White House is going to have to have the respect of the Legions--because it is upon the Legions that maintenance of #1 will depend, not us.
It will take some time for it to seep in, but I predict in 20 years we will have a Military Govt--probably operating behind the scenes while professional polliticians skin and grin out front and do its bidding.
Hell, some say that has been the case since 1947. |

Isn't that the guy who took charge down there in New Orleans?
You see how nothing got moving until he went down there yelling and kicking ass.
Be careful what you wish for, though. Througout history societies have resorted to the military, and for a while they do good, but then they become soft and corrupt as the society they have come to save.
Look at the Roman Praetorians, the Russian streltsi, the Japanese samurai, the Ottoman janissaires, Alexander's Diadochi, the Italian Condittieri, and the Spartans.
Though I don't want to see it, the Military is going to be the only institution in the country that will have the confidence of the people.
All the others have become soft and corrupt. |

Chris - What do you mean, you don't want to see it? You're the one that started this thread. Why don't you stop contradicting yourself within a fifteen minute time frame because you make it seem as if CRS and ALZ are setting in.
Yes, Honoré's the one that went to NO and hit the ground running to bring some order to the chaos shortly after the disaster occurred. He and fifty more just like him would whip this bullshit into shape in the blink of an eye. I'd welcome a military police society if it means we can walk to the corner and send our children out to play without worrying about them being abducted.

I'd welcome a military police society if it means we can walk to the corner and send our children out to play without worrying about them being abducted.
(I don't want to see it because if history is any judge, they, since they have all the guns, will be the ones you have to worry about when you walk to a corner, and they will abduct your children to serve in their ranks and their other needs too, and there will be nothing you can do about it.
Say the military is running your town. A bunch of soldiers decides to get some extra money by setting up a roadblock and robbing everybody who comes through. Say a general comes to town and fancies your house tells you to get the hell out and takes it over.
Do you know why the Bill of Rights contains provisions about the quartering of soldiers in private homes?
Of course not. You are sitting up and imagining that once all these broke ass soldiers would continue to let you make all the money while they take all the risks.
This is another reason why it is going to happen. People are going to imagine it will be better.
They are Americans and Americans do not know history. Throughout history it has always turned out for the worse. |
