BlackWords founder Kwame Alexander (http://authors.aalbc.com/kwame.htm) has informed me that effective January 1st 2005 BlackWords is calling it quits.
I'm sorry to see BlackWords go. BlackWords was one of the first entities to pay me to speak on a panel, they were understanding when I bounced a check with them, they sold me books on consignment, they hooked me up with people like Kalamu ya Salaam, and they truly introduced me and many thousands of others to the world of poetry.
Speaking of poetry was anyone here lucky enough to have attended the historical 1998 event 360º A Revolution of Black Poets?
These are old web pages (I've gotten a little better at web layout over the years) but they give you a sense of the magnitude of the event.

It was also at 360º that an self-published author named Camika Spencer presented me with her new book When All Hell Breaks Loose http://aalbc.com/authors/camikac.htm
Another author jessica Care moore http://authors.aalbc.com/jessica.htm introduced herself and her publishing company, Moore Black Press, to me. After putting her content on AALBC.com Moore and another Poet she published Saul Williams http://aalbc.com/authors/saul.htm became all-time best selling authors on AALBC.com. They were only recently surpassed by Zane (actually I have not ran the final numbers this year, but when I do, I'm sure that is the was it will turn out).
I got so much content for AALBC.com from 360º.
Thanks Kwame, Stephanie, Pamela and anyone else who worked with BlackWords over the years.
