So Ms. McFadden is taking a walk on the wilder side of AA fiction. I read this galley earlier this year and had no idea this was Bernice!

The following is a copy from her newsletter.

News From Bernice McFadden...

Greetings Readers,

Well summer is upon us and for me it will be a very busy season!

You may or may not have heard that I'm doing something different this year. In past communications to you I've introduced an author named Geneva Holliday and her debut novel, GROOVE .

Well, that debut author is actually a seasoned one -- ME!

I figured it was time to let the cat out of the bag since the July issue of Sister to Sister revealed Geneva Holliday's real persona.

I have to admit taking on an alter ego while writing this book, was quite a lot of fun and I believe that reading the book is just as much fun!

The book will be available everywhere on June 28th.

I hope that you'll come out and support me in this, my new endeavor. Please visit the tour section of the Geneva Holliday website to see when I will be signing in your neck of the woods: www.genevaholliday.com

I suspect that some of you may have questions regarding this new direction I've taken. So let me address some of those concerns in this letter.

Can I bring Bernice McFadden books along to be signed at the Geneva Holliday venue?

Why of course you can!

Bernice, have you abandoned your literary beginnings?

Certainly not! My literary style of writing is my first love and my sixth novel entitled: Nowhere is a Place - will be available in Feb of 2006. In fact you can read an excerpt for the new novel at www.bernicemcfadden.com

Will there be other books under the Geneva Holliday pseudonym?

Yes, I've just finished the follow-up to GROOVE - entitled FEVER and that should be available sometime next year.

Also, for those of you who want to contribute to a good cause, you can order GROOVE online at www.genevaholliday.com - each purchase will generate a $1.00 donation to the Kenya Simba Masaii Outreach Organization .

I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

Peace, light and love,

That's wonderful.

Bernice is an exceptionally nice person. I'll post a thread about her book on my board soon.

I read some of the book and it's really, really well written "POP", if that's what it is.

I was in Borders today and saw a picture of the author of Groove. I was like, "Man, she looks familiar!" Now I know why. I've done several signings with Bernice McFadden and she has a really gentle, beautiful spirit about her. She is a phenomenal writer, as well.

Considering the fact that black literature has sunk to the new low of inviting video hoochies to cash in on who they slept with in the Hip Hop industry, I hope Bernice makes a mint with this new endeavor, because I can't think of many authors that deserve it more than her. She is truly talented, truly humble, and truly should get all of the riches that are available to her.
