The Republican Party is still throwing negativity at Obama to see what will stick. Just when you think they've sunk to the bottom, they try something more scummy. Airing Rev Wright sound bites and showing old pictures of the two of them together on election day, trying to eke out a few more votes with their slimey scare tactics.

You'd think that out of respect for Obama losing his grandmother, they would finally give up the dirt and show a little respect. Not them...

A_womon, these people are frantic and desperate. They see Obama as a threat to their white privilege and reins of power and authority. They are pathetically attempting to create any diversion or negative image of this man by appealing to the worst fears and anxieties of whites. And the idea of Michelle Obama being the first Lady is more than they can stomach. You cannot pretend about her. She is not a curly haired fair complexioned biracial woman (and I’m not casting dispersion on light complexioned or biracial woman) that they would feel more comfortable with. She is an unmistakably mocha colored black woman from the South Side –there is no ambiguity about her ethnicity. Something they are extremely uncomfortable with.

But nothing they are doing surprises me. And fhuck all those dumb bastards in Ohio. I’m ashamed to say I came from a state of self destructive morons who continue to vote for parties who have never had their interests in mind. It makes no damn sense!

It may just be my imagination but it seems to me that in the final days of the campaign, the media seems to be making a very subtle shift into McCain's column, showing him in a favorable light and Palin as a sympathetic character.

Catering to the huge audience of ordinary people and undecided folks, Saturday Night Live provided McCain with a free platform to show what a personable guy he can be, snidely implying how much money Barak spent on his slick info-mercial, and topping this off by portraying Joe Biden as a goof ball.

And females in the public sector were suddenly casting Palin as the victim of unfair ridicule while airing the phone conversation where she was punked by the 2 comedians disguising themselves as The French Premier.

And all the newspapers in Chicago seem to be printing a last-minute overload of articles and letters that bash Obama.

If Obama wins this election, I will consider it a miracle. And my faith in America will be restored.

I have noticed the exact same thing! The shift to more mccain coverage, the sudden shift in the poll numbers, etc...maybe this is the 'november surprise' they have been hinting at.

Obama will win almost certainly win the popular vote. Cynique would this be enought to restore you faith in America?

If he wins it will be a miracle, but miracles happen every day if you think about it...

Actually I did not like the punking phone conversation involving Palin. I did not feel bad for her though. Actually it seems all the Black stations around here make cranks calls all the time. When did this BS become "entertainment"?

A_womon, you ain't seen nothing; wait until Obama takes office.

I shouldn't play fast and loose with the word, "miracle", Troy. In fact I am guilty of engaging in hype and taking poetic license when applying it to the Obama victory because his winning was not an impossible prospect.

My faith in the intelligence of the liberal community has been reinforced. But Conservative right-winders are incorrigible and I remain repulsed by their self-righteous hypocritical rigidity.
America is a place, so I'm encouraged that it is moving closer to truly becoming the promised land.

Checking out all of the possible choices being mentioned for Obama's brain trust, it is obvious that he is intent on assembling an A-Team from the white corporate and academic ranks. He has definitely named Ram Emanuel, a Jewish congressman from Chicago, as the white house chief of staff and I'm anxious to see who will be his Attorney General and Secretary of State. He's probably keeping the Postmaster General slot open for a black man - as well he should

It was amusing to see Condoleeza Rice grinning from ear-to-ear as she congratulated Obama on his victory. She was probably wishing she could divorce her "husband" George Bush, and hook up with Barak.
