The Russians pimpslapped his boys the Georgians. He has been touting them as future members of NATO--which is and has been an Anti Russian alliance.

He cannot just let this pass--all these other nations in NATO and aspiring to join will think that the membership ain't squat.

What do you think he will do?

What would YOU do?

Cross your fingers and hope to God it doesn't get worse. Bush has ham-stringed and beat down the US military with his bullshit wars and outrageous military OP tempos/deployments. It's at the breaking point -trust me. Something that we are not allowed to talk about. Trust me folks, our military is taking a pounding behind the Iraq and Afghanistan occupation (which Al Qaeda, the Taliban and independent anti-Western Islamists are taking back). The US has no military options. Bush has abused it. And the American general public is too stupid and mindless because they have bought into Bush's saber rattling, fear mongering and his misleading disastrous war on terror (a duplicitous self serving slogan the State Department has been adamantly opposed to from the beginning) propaganda. So any talk against his post 9/11 nightmare is seen as "cutting and running", weak, anti-patriotic and selling out our national security. The book on successful psychological warfare and manipulation will have to be rewritten after he leaves office.

Ntfs,

Not only has Bush & Co. destroyed ANY chance any sort of military option. But they have so decimated our foreign relations we have almost NO credibility with other countries and the United Nations so we can't rally together to cow Russia into backing down.

And Russia certainly KNOWS that, which probably is a BIG reason WHY this thing is going down to begin with.

The US has no military options. Bush has abused it.

(The Air Force and the Navy are virtually untouched and ready. As are the nuclear forces.

The 82nd Airborne could be there in 24 hours. A whole Marine division is ready.

The ground forces would just serve as an "I dare ya" tripwire.

You don't remember 1973 Yom Kippur War, do you? Our whole army was in Vietnam, Germany and Korea. The Israelis were about to put the coup de grace to the Egyptian Third Army.

The Russians mobilezed 10 divisions of paratroopers. Nixon mobilized the 82nd and the 101st.

Of course they would not have been able to handle the Russians by themselves, but the implied threat was they wouldn't have to.

He is going to have to do something.

What is it he SHOULD do?)

It's more like a Nation of Nuclear Saber Rattler's vs. a Nation of Proven Nuclear Hotheads.

Or like the inmates of an asylum versus the imates of a prison - the crazies vs the criminals. Take your pick as to which country is which.

If he was Teddy Roosevelt he would have some Marines in there--I guess he can say that he's getting ready got get up from the table and leave the hand for the next guy to play--

This will be a hell of a dilemma for Obama.

McCain will just trigger World War IV.

Years after the end of the cold war, the Russians know they are still able to shake up panic-stricken America. All they're doing is taunting America. Just like Iran. Neither of these countries has any intention of getting bogged down in a war that is not in their best interest.
