Well, he went out on top. Near the top anyway.

No lascerating scandals, embarassing divorces, falling on hard times, disgrace, laying around in alleys and gutters talking about how good thangs used to be, getting hooked on drugs--

He had a good run and he don't have to deal with this bullsh*t anymore.

I wonder if we will com to envy him.

My heart aches. I loved Bernie Mac. The fact that he loved and stayed married to the same woman he met in his teens. That he helped his sister out with her kids when she was struggling. That he made us laugh. Oh, how he made me laugh! I was watchin reruns of his show last night and laughing and crying at the same time.

My most sincere, deepest sympathies to his family and friends.

He will be missed.

It's always terrible when a man is struck down in his prime. After a long struggle, Bernie had it all. The one thing missing in his life was - longevity.
R.I.P., homie.

So true. Man, will he be missed. Haven't felt this sad since Robin Harris passed. Wasn't he rather young too??

Bernie's passing has brought on a huge amount of emotions. wonderment has stuck with me. For me the finish line is always moving. At times in my life I've found myself in the wrong race. After every major event, good or bad, the goals and dreams I thought were so important become less so. Thumper poised an interesting question along these same lines. In essence his post asked what's really important; fame, money, the admirations of others or do we really know? Sure, we think we know but I believe the images of success and happiness are for the most part created for us, not within us and we are seldom conscious of it or don't wish to accept it. Bernie's passing has again made me focus on my finish line and the path between!

Bernie was a class act.
He was especially good in the movies PRIDE, MR 3000 and Guess Who.
Multi-talented and real, called home too soon.
