Why did they fall for it. That heifer, The Great White Hope, pulled this on Rosie O'Donnell already.

Elizabeth Hasselbeck is considered a big joke by most ot the fans of The View. She's a perky little blond Republican whose comments usually evoke snickers and make people roll their eyes at her inanity. It'll take more than a tantrum by Elizabeth to upseat Whoopi from her seat on this show. |

I saw it. It was pathetic. All three of 'em. Two Negroes passionately defending the use of the most racially degrading words and the zero brain cell double standard for it's usage and Hasselbeck blubbering. It was embarrassing.......... |

Okay...but that was pretty freaking hilarious.

I laughed my ass off when she started whimpering. What could more intimidating to a dainty little blonde woman than two fully attitude strapped sista's when a quarter worth of brains. I disagree with you about it being embarassing. It was comical in its own right but more important it was something that need to be heard by simplier minds.
Whether I agree with the usage of the word or not is not revelant. I agree with the position to be offended when some one uses the same way every other culture does with their power words. I also stand for the necessity to fight for ANYONE's right to use it as they please. That includes Michael Richards, David Duke, or anyone else who wants their ass stomped for using it.
The reality many of us refuse to face is that we have absolutely no chance at this point in history to decimate this word. As you can see, one of the most vocal proponents against the word is incapable of not using it. Mr Jackson deserves what he gets and more for doing that...fake.
E. Hasselbeck does not deserve any sympathy nor an ear in this matter. |

Well bro, unfortunately, we are already there. As bizarre and mind boggling as it is, Negroes have dug their heels in on this subject. They eagerly embellish and arrogantly use a word that represents their historical wretchedness (Richard Pryor quote) and the ugly dehumanizing history that it is embedded in. It's amazing how a word is celebrated and eagerly used in an almost supercilious romantic nature. A word that was specifically created to define blacks as subhuman. Yet they rush to it's defense. Frantically proclaiming their right to use it yet passionately condemning others for doing so. And exercise in spectacular hypocrisy and stupidity. Oh well.... |

I don't believe in outlawing words. I really don't care about their history, etomology, etc.
I find most of the condemnation of the use of the word nig.ger to be intellectually stifling and dangerous, akin to that of censoring (or burning) books.
And I would agree with your citing the hypocrisy of Black foks being allowed to freely utter the word while others do not IF there were no other ethnicities or nationalities that have their OWN means of self-deprecation that outsiders are prohibited from wielding.
I don't call my Irish American friends 'drunks' or Polish American friends 'dumb polocks' even thought THEY will call themselves or each other such.
I think the issue with nig.ger is less the word itself and really MORE about how hip-hop has broaden and altered its profile in the current public discourse and zeigest.
Otherwise, nig.ger is just a word. Nothing less.
