Phil Gramm said struggling Americans -- (read: hard working white people) -- are simply imagining their plight, misconceiving their situation, and then he referred to them as a nation of, oh-oh, "whiners".

Like many other Republican conservatives, Gramm is detached and economically isolated from the every day struggles of working, poor and middle class people. He he has health insurance, does not concern himself with the pain of the petro pump, his house is secure and not in danger of foreclosure, can send his kids to any college he chooses, has a secure pension, and is not adversely affected by sky rocketing food, housing gas and electric prices. So naturally, in his world, a recession and all the suffering it is having on the average person -is moot and exists only in the minds of whiny Americans. |

So naturally, in his world, a recession and all the suffering it is having on the average person -is moot and exists only in the minds of whiny Americans.
(This is almost scarier than the notion that these guys KNOW what Americans are going through and just choose to ignore it.
One of Reagan's boyz confirmed it.
I forget which. He stated that while he was with the White House, he got all his meals, health care, practically free. Got limousine service back and forth to the job.
He said he got to thinking that everybody should have this and if they didn't it was their fault.
He said only when he left the White House did he realize that this wasn't being given to everybody.
The average American has become totally lacking in empathy, does not tend to know or care what anyone else experiences and tends to view everybody through his own lens.
This civilization is doomed. |

Well..as one who hasnt made money in about 2 1/2 years and have been trying to make money at a job that I should be able to earn a decent living but cant because of a f**ked economy and cant really find work at this time doing something different because of this freaking f**ded up ecomony, I think if I want to whine I should be able to..but thats me
