As I anticipate a requiem for the Democratic party, a eulogy that will lay its 2 candidates to rest, knowing that the death of their aspirations was caused by racism, vindictiveness, and disloyalty, I wonder what hope black folks can salvage from the fiasco of 2008?
Well, if ol man McCain would choose Condoleeza Rice for vice-president and he would croak in office, then we would end up satisfying all of our collective demands: an "authetically-black" person who is an "experienced woman" and a member of a party black folks have shunned because of "blind loyalty to the Democrats" who have let them down.
But that's the only reason I, personally, could justify voting for McCain as a form of protest. Of course, such a scenario will never happen.
So, the election will come and go and America will be left to its folly, a nation at war with itself, even as it sends its troops to spill their blood on foreign soil. A tortured country trying to extricate itself from a miasma of "isms": racism, sexism, ageism, capitalism, fascism, jingoism, imperialism.
Is all lost?? Are these the final days of the American Empire? I'll leave the answer to that question to the Optimists.

Well Cyn, you might have hit the nail on the head. Sadly, should Obama not win the Presidency, white America may end up being the biggest loosers because the proverbial race monkey will still be on their back. And as a result, black America will see their progress retarded at an exponential rate.

(Nope. Individuals have always prospered under this system and always will.
Win lose or draw some negroes are going to come out of this sitting prettier than they were before.
