What Republicans Believe, What Democrats Believe

"I'm writing to you on behalf of my son. In the simplest form, what are the main differences between today's Democrats and Republicans? I get too complicated with my explanations. I don't think these kids really know the difference and just vote for a candidate because he is young, or female, etc. Can you help?"
Sure.
What Republicans Believe, What Democrats Believe
Republicans believe hard work wins, and government should allow you to the fullest extent possible to keep what you earn. Democrats believe that success results from luck, chance and happenstance, and therefore a just government takes from those who have and gives to those who do not.
Republicans believe in a colorblind society determined by drive, work ethic and talent. Democrats want a color-coordinated society. This explains the support for race and gender-based preferences to "correct" past sins and to create "diversity."
Republicans believe discrimination to fix previous discrimination remains discrimination, and that all a government can be is just in its own time. Democrats wish to use government to "rectify" past wrongs, which they hold responsible for today's "inequities."
Republicans believe that government should empower the individual that a government that taxes least taxes best. Democrats want individuals to empower government, and support policies that redistribute income from person A to "deserving" person B.
Republicans believe that the playing field, while unlevel, requires an individual to do the best he or she can with the cards dealt. Democrats consider life rigged, and that one's destiny rests on matters beyond the control of the individual.
Republicans believe that those who cannot help themselves can and will be helped out by other individuals not government as a result of basic human compassion. Democrats believe that because of one's misfortune, he or she is entitled to something via government from someone else.
Republicans believe in peace through strength, and thus support strong national defense, and in this era of Islamofascism a proactive foreign policy. Democrats believe in strength through peace, and believe they can better influence the behavior of enemies by demonstrating our good intentions.
Republicans believe in the mutual benefits of free trade of goods and services. Democrats believe in "fair trade," and support barriers that shield domestic industries against competition, reducing the incentive to innovate and change to remain competitive.
Republicans consider the Constitution a contract, limiting the duties, powers and obligations of the federal government. Democrats consider the Constitution a "living, breathing document," to be interpreted flexibly. Republicans, for example, reject Roe v. Wade because the court based it on a right to privacy, not mentioned in the U.S. Constitution. Democrats consider the right to privacy implied, despite the absence of any reference to it.
Republicans believe in the Second Amendment, and that it confers an individual right to keep and bear arms. The Founding Fathers wanted this right to protect against tyranny by government. Democrats consider the Second Amendment an impediment to public safety.
Michigan, six years ago, became one of about 40 "shall issue" states that now allow citizens to apply for a permit to carry concealed weapons. At the time, law enforcement officials predicted an increase in violent crime. In fact, the opposite happened.
Woodhaven Police Chief Michael Martin said, "I think the general consensus out there from law enforcement is that things were not as bad as we expected. There are problems with gun violence, but I think we can breathe a sigh of relief that what we anticipated didn't happen."
So how did the president of the Michigan chapter of the anti-gun group Million Moms March respond? She called the statistics bogus, and argued that even if true, society still possesses too many guns.
And this brings us to our final observation:
Republicans believe what they see, and Democrats see what they believe.

Like Marvin Gaye croons: "People say believe half of what you see and, son, none of what you hear". What Larry Elder seems to believe is that if he sanitizes selfish greed with disingenuous rationales, then he can enoble Republican tenets.
But, as usual, so much depends on the "haves" and the "have-nots" paradigm. Rich Republicans thrive on inherited wealth or the profits they've earned off the backs of the working man. Middleclass Republicans profit from the trickle-down money they earn through providing the goods and services required to minister to the have-nots who are caught in the limbo of a broken system. Without the "have-nots", there would be no "haves".
And what about the gun-toting Rappers and rogue athletes who earn tremendous amounts of money through their own hard work and ambition, the types Elder would undoubtedly distance himself from as if the are any worse than the Capitalist crooks who comprise partisan Republicans or the militia fanatics of the anti-gun control NRA. Simlarly, a pro-lifer like the hypcritical Elder holds in contempt the proliferation of unweds births among the poor women who reject abortions.
Furthermore, in real life, the lines between Republicans and Democrats are not as precisely drawn as Elder would have one believe. The variables in the human condition do not conform to anything as cut and dried as Elder's comparisons. He's making more of a distinction between liberal and conservative philosophies rather than political parties. He also adopts certain ideas that nobody could disagree with because they deal with the common sense that Republicans do not have a monopoly on.
Finally, considering the shape America is in after 5 years of a Republican-generated war costing thousands of lives and trillions of dollars, many of which have gone into the pockets of rich Republican profiteers, we can do without the self-righteous whining and the smug assertions of a prig like Larry Elder. |

Larry Elder is as full of sh*t as a Christmas goose--I wonder why he doesn't include the beliefs of the Republican Right Wing nutcases--
Negro haters like Strom Thurmond and those other Dixiecrats who ran out of the Republican party to get away from his kind and don't really care for him now--

Actually Strom Thrumond and other southern stalwarts deserted the Democratic party to form the Dixiecrats who later disbanded and became Republicans because this party were more attuned to their racism and conservatism. |

You are dead on the money!!! I always laugh when I hear Republicans arrogantly bleat the standard monster lie -that it was they (GOP) who where responsible for the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. They attempt to create this misleading illusion (and it is an illusion!) that they are allies of blacks while the Democrats have been and continue to be, the enemies of black Americans. The Democrats who fiercely resisted and fought the passage of the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts, were Southern Democrats. Because of their bitterness and anger over fellow Democrats cozying up to legislation that wrestled away their oppressive legal throat strangle of blacks, they all defected to the Republican party. Anyone who knows anything about American history knows that white Southerners were traditionally Democrats. No more -THEY ARE NOW SOILD REPUBLICANS.
The massive defection from the Democratic party began after the LBJ stint in the White House. Today, the Republican party is the home of race, class and corporate big business. The core of their venom is heatedly directed at blacks, women rights, social entitlement programs, unions, blue collar workers, the underclass and anyone who does not share their hysterical Christian conservative fanaticism. They make no attempts to conceal this.
But to be fair, I believe a person has every right to choose the party of their interest. But I have to be honest and admit I have never understood why any Negro would proudly proclaim their affiliation and support of the Republican Party. It's like a Jew trying to join Hezbollah. And when I say this, I say this not to suggest blacks should be beholden to the Democrats. Not at all. People should vote their interests. But unfortunately -they don't!!! So, when I see pathetic shameless Lawn Jockey mascot Negroes like Larry Elders and Ward Connerly stump for the Republicans, it makes me shake my head in disgust and confusion.
