Ok, I'm clearly being sarcastic here but thats my point. Do endorsements mean anything anymore? Here's one from Hulk Hogan:

All I saw when I clicked onto this link was Britney Spears in full battle mode. Now there's an endorsement Hillarty would probably like to get.

Anyway, IMO, endorsements do influence guillible people. And who knows? The next POTUS may be put in office by gullible people.

I think endorsements only matter if your name is Ted Kennedy or Caroline Kennedy and maybe Al Gore or Oprah, and they then go out and campaign. And only for certain segments of the population.

Oprah's endorsement made me take a serious look at Obama when I was all for Clinton before. I figured Oprah has known him for a while since she lives in Chicago and she has sat and talked to the man about his views. She's also a good judge of character. She obviously knows more about the candidates on a personal level than I ever could and she wouldn't stick her neck out for just anybody.

I'm sure you've seen the photos of Hispanic households here in the U.S. and elsewhere that have pictures of Jesus and JFK on the wall. Ted and Caroline Kennedy could help Obama with the Hispanic vote.

The other endorsements (other Kennedys, Maxine Waters, etc.,) probably mean little.

Kimora Lee Simmons has endorsed Sen. Clinton... Does that mean HRC will get all the "Baby Phat" customers?...

I think you are right, Connie. On some level I think there are true "endorsements" and then there's something along the lines of "public statements of support." I and anyone else can do the latter. But I generally think of an endorser as someone whose support could translate into big $ (directly or through fundraising efforts), extremely increased visibility, and--most importantly--real political clout.

Does Maxine Waters "count" in this fashion. Yes, I think so. But Hulk Hogan? LOL

When did Oprah get to be a good judge of character? Obviously Steadman wasn't all he was cracked up to be. Not to mention how she was duped by the author whose book turned out to be a pack of lies and the head mistress molester of her school as well as that hustler Dr. Phil.
She surrounds herself with sycophants and is rumored to be crossing her fingers in hopes that none of them told the truth to Kitty Kelly who is writing a tell-all book about "O". meooooow.

No one is perfect, not even Oprah. But I think she's better at judging people than most--she's certainly has more access than most. And she must be doing something right given her success. You don't have that kind of success if you're a bad judge of people.

I'm not convinced that Orpah's success has anything to do with her being a good judge of people. Pardon me if I attribute it to her being at the right place at the right time, and trusting herself. Whatever. She'd never influence my vote.
