In the spirit of Stuff White People Like dot com, Stuff Educated Black People Like dot com and other such sites, I was wondering about folks who hang around here. What are some of the things Thumper's Corner/aalbc.com posters like?

I thought of a few things...

1) Reaching "Cyniquian" posting status
2) Fresh meat--er, I mean, First time posters
3) Making accusations of being Kola Boof
4) Defending accusations of being Kola Boof
5) READING

and of course...
6) Troy Johnson! (LOL)

Well, Yvette, I can imagine that there are a lot of posters who just as soon not have to be categorized as "cyniquian"

I kinda like needling first time-posters to give them a taste of what to expect when they make assertions.

I've grown bored with outing kola boof trolls.

I do like to hear people's opinions and recommedations about books they've read.

And I love me some Troy because he lets me get away with being a devilish contrarian on HIS site. Thanx TJ :-)

Also, I like trying to visualize how the regular posters look, because certain impressions kinda transcend their words.

Of course, I thrive on exchanging insults with chrishayden.

And last but not least I like deciding which emoticon I want to use at the end of my comments, so I can convey just the right tone.

Yvettep I'd heard of stuff white people like, but never checked it out. I just did and found it both funny and disturbing. Distrubing because I found I like many of the things white people like -- Like, Oh My Gosh!

After reading that I hope your #6 still applies.

I can probably guess that TC'ers;

Look support Black expression even if they don't agree with them.

We are the types to go into a dive black owned bookstore and buy a book just to support the business.

We actually like to talk to school kids during career day to share our experiences and to try to be a positive role models.

We read a variety of things and have a thirst for knowledge.

We eagerly seek out those with opposing opinions to challenge and improve our own assumptions and ideas.

We love to see and support successful black folks:

My mom called me up the other day and said, "Troy you must be happy now."

I thought to myself I'm generally pretty happy -- and she knows this.. I wondered where she was going with this question. So I took the bait and asked, "What do you mean?"

She replied, "Well we have a Black governor and maybe a Black president, you must be pretty happy"

I said, "You know that’s right!"

TC'ers are actually willing to hear what folks like a John McWhorter have to say rather adhering to the herd mentality and dismissing him as a self hating negro. We may still come to that conclusion, but we would have listened first.
