The Gant rule refers to the illustrious Harvey Gant who ran against Strom Thurmond for the Senate. Polls showed him neck and neck or ahead before the election--they proved to be about 10&% off (he got 10% fewer votes than the polls indicated, Cynique)
White folks lie when it comes to stating their preference in a race where a black is running against a white.
If the Gant rule holds (which it has in most cases) Obama will lose to Clinton unless he is 10% ahead.
So, with those polls showing him neck and neck or slightly ahead--Caveat emptor! |
