Status of my hood,December 12, 2007:
Around the corner from me three large multi story brick vancant buildings have been gutted. Word from one of the area businessmen is that a developer is going to turn them into condos.
Down the street--the vacant school building has been purchased by a local University--probably for apartment buildings or condos.
Vacant, fire damaged house on the block--undergoing major renovations.
Soon we'll wonder where all the hos and dope went--they'll be in another hood, hastening the process of Urban Renewal-- |

Have you ever read "Gangs of New York"? New York City in the 1840's and 50's (when the Irish and WASPS dominated) makes Darfur look like Disneyland. |

Jeeze, I thought the inner cities were populated by poor black defenseless victims of Bill Cosby's cruel criticism and white America's ongoing racism, - helpless people who were decent but deprived, direly in need of chrishayden's excuse-making compassion. |
