Just so you don't think that my whole life is one of unending hellraising ghettodrama, I spent some time in St. Louis's Central West End Yesterday

Ahh, Yvettep, you'd have been proud of me. I acted like a regular Buppie!
I walked the avenues. I went to Starbucks at Euclid and Maryland and sat outside and drank my coffee (man, that shit is strong!)
I perused the newstands.
I was ignored by the handful of brothers and sisters over there (most of them go over there to act white and the last thing they want to see is other Negroes)
I sat and recalled how my mother had tried to cool out an uncle by driving him through on a tour.
"All this and they just leave us the crumbs!" he exploded angrily. "All they leave us is the crumbs!"
Oh well, as we say in Buppiedom, "C'est La Vie!"
On the whole it was pleasant--it would have been better if I'd have known somebody, though. |

LOL @ Chris. But you are incorrect in your assessment of my pride. I am "proud" of you to the extent that you are getting out a little--not that you were feigning "buppydom." Hey--you be you. If hanging out with broken down pimps and early morning prostitutes and wandering drug addicts/dealers is your thing, who am I to tell you otherwise?
