Very interesting dialogue in spite of the fact that the interviewer was slightly intrusive. A lot of what Ruby said resonated with me. I always thought that integration could be more trouble than it was worth, and of course her reminiscence about her late husband inspired my empathy. She has to be in her early 80s and her lucidity and optimism are a testament to how timeless the human spirit is.

Dee's performance in gangster was BRILLIANT... often run into her when in ny. such a CLASSY woman... although a redbone. see, i give credit where credit's due :-)

"Lucid" and "optimistic" and "classy" are perfect words to describe Ms. Dee. That clip from the movie was pretty intense. I probably will not get around to it until DVD, but then I'll be looking forward to her performance. I am glad she is getting so much work at this stage in her life.
