We have talked about the n-word, now how about a discussion on the b-word. Issiah uses it, rappers use it, some women even use it with each other. What do you think?

A couple of NPR pieces (of course!) to get us started:

Some say embracing potentially offensive words can be empowering. Pamela Merritt, founder of the blog Angry Black , discusses her views on feminism, why she started blogging, and what the title of her blog means to her.

Listen: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=15180194

And further commentary from Michel Martin's NPR blog:
http://www.npr.org/blogs/tellmemore/2007/10/who_are_you_calling_a_b.html

And have I mentioned here yet that I believe that Michel Martin is the best thing to happen to radio since...well, I guess since electricity? LOL

I often refer to myself as "s u p e r b i t ch", and I do this to liberate myself from the ranks of those who allow others to put them on the defensive. Sticks and stones may hurt my bones but calling me a b i t c h will expose your frustration.

I think we would all be better off if we called each other by our given names. If somebody does not want to be called a , or any other perjorative term, I would not do it.

Understand that when I call somebody out of their name, I mean to insult them. What they propose to do about it is up to them

But if they want to kick my ass over it, they better bring their lunch cuz it's gonna be an all day job.

God, I have to stop posting after Cynique, the Original Gangsta.
