Some San Antonio Apartments Banning Tattoos
From WOAI.com
26 Sep 2007

It's against the law for landlords to discriminate based on the color of a person's skin. But can they reject you because of what's on your skin?

Some San Antonio apartment complexes are refusing to rent to people with tattoos and body piercings. News 4 WOAI Trouble Shooter Jaie Avila investigates the case of one couple who says that policy is unfair.

I have 2 tattoos around my right wrist area. The pain I endured having them done, is worth the reactions I get. Shock, amusement, approval. I also have 3 holes in each ear, which likewise involved pain since I pierced the first 2 sets myself back before you could go to the mall and have your lobes stapled. Ahhhh, the agony and the ecstasy! Wonder should I decide to downsize, would I be discriminated against if I try to rent an apartment????? Yawnnnnnnnn.

I have a nose ring, a tongue ring, both earlobes are double-pierced, and I have the upper cartilage pierced on my right ear. So that's 7 piercings.

I've been wanting a tattoo for the longest, but I don't know what I want or where I want to put it. I am seriously considering permanent make-up. Eyeliner, to be exact. So that's a sneaky way of having a tattoo without having a tattoo. Plus, it'll shave off a few minutes putting on my face every morning.

I once dated a guy who had his whole back tattooed with a naked woman running through a forest. It was beautiful: birds, different color leaves, a brook; and the only people who knew he had it were people who saw him without a shirt. Other than that, he dressed in business attire everyday and no one was the wiser about what he had under his shirt and tie.

I have a girlfriend who has lips tattooed on both of her butt cheeks. Every summer we go to various beaches and she wears these thong bikinis. She gets a lot of attention and comments about those lips.

We mark up our skins because we want to. I love the rose I have tattoed on my wrist entwined around the name of my late husband. And it's certainly a conversation piece. When I went to renew my drivers license yesterday I had to take the road test and the tester was so enthralled with my tattoo that he didn't even half grade me, just told me that I passed.

"We mark up our skins because we want to."

Unfortunately, this is true Ms. Cynique. It's just like picking up a cigarette or smoking crack for the first time. You make a decision to do so. I live in SoCal, which has got to be the tattoo and piercing capital of the world. I know I'm going against the consensus of the board (again!) but I have never understood the mindset of desiring tattoo's. I see the worst of it here. People with tattoo's that cover the entire length of their arms, legs, backs and I've seen a number who have had their entire faces tattooed. It's disgusting. I can't say it any other way. Try going for a job interview with tattoo's covering your face or running up the sides of your neck (very popular with gangs).

I just saw a young lady walking down the street yesterday with her black Gothic makeup on, black high heels, black skirt and stockings and a black tank top with the back exposed. HER ENTIRE BACK UP TO THE SHOULDER BLADES AND TRAPEZIUS WAS COVER WITH A MASSIVE TATTOO. Maybe that's cool and trendy for now since she is very young, but lets see what she looks like when she is 50, 60 or 70 years old. It won't be pretty.

But it is a free country and if they desire to mark their bodies for life, well........they legally have the right to do so. (shrugs.......)

Moderation is the key. Anything is bad if it's done to excess. I'm an older babe and, as I say, I love my rose tattoo, and while some are appalled by it, others think it's really cool. No accounting for taste. And so it goes.

I'm assuming that the tattooted granny didn't bring Mzuri to mind, Yvette. Or me. LMAO.
Seriously, it looks like Mzuri is on hiatus. Hurry back, gurlfriend. Hope you and Kola haven't hooked up and taken your act on the road. :-)

LOL! No. I just received that recently in my email in-box and thought I'd contribute to the discussion of tattooes and how much is too much, etc.
