In short, there didn't seem to be much of a presence in terms of black performers, writers and producers. Are the Emmy's headed toward cultural irrelevance?

I wonder what kind of TV ratings the show got. It was pretty sterile. I did see Tracy Morgan among the "30 Rock" crowd accepting the Emmy for best comedy show. Guess he sobered up for the occasion. And of course Vanessa Williams was there, blending in with the crowd, hoping to get the nod for best supporting actress in "Ugly Betty", - but to no avail. The public probably is getting bored with watching the TV industry pat itself on the back.

What part of TV is worth getting excited about? In between the plethora of reality TV and all the foks who immediately jump to the cinema once get get ANY sort of thing happening on the tube, there really isn't MUCH there to get excited about.

What did you expect? The awards shows reflect what's going on in the industry so if there aren't very many Black shows (actors, writers, producers), why would there be any signficant presence of Black awardees at the Emmys (or any of the others)?

Mzuri --

"What did you expect?"

It wasn't an expectation, it was simply an observation that was quite evident to almost everyone. Albeit, the percentage of black writers, etc. has increased over the last several years, but the production tiers that they reside on are still virtually irrelevant in Hollywood's eyes. Generally speaking, the Emmy's only serve to represent one standard of recognition - at least at this time.

Didn't Spike Lee's "When the Levees Broke" receive an Emmy (or Emmies)?

There was a separate ceremony held on another night for TVs behind the scenes technicians and creative artists, and Spike's documentary did win an Emmy.

(That's the breaks. You ain't promised an Emmy when you sign on the dotted line to perform, act, write, direct, etc.

The people who do the voting and selection are white. They give those awards to who they want to. What? Should white people complain because there are no whites getting Soul Train and Image awards.

It always kills me to hear Negroes complaining about some frivolous and irrelevant stuff.

No blacks got an Emmy. Boohoohoo. My piles bleed for them. I'm sure somebody in Darfur or Baghdad is really upset.

Negroes should be glad they are getting a check. If I was white I wouldn't vote for a Negro to get an award either.

As tight-assed as you are, chrishayden, I'm not surprised that you have the "piles". LMAO.
In the billion-dollar TV industry an Emmy is not a frivolous or irrelevant award. Winning one looks very good on anybody's resume.

(Nobody gives a damn about anything but ratings. How many Emmys has Jerry Springer won?

It's meaningless. Only an uptight, tightassed, tightwad like yourself, who lives for the approval of others, even cares)

Youre so out of it, chrishayden. I said on an Emmy on a resume looks good. Every industry hands out awards as do prestigious fields of endeavor. It's a tradition and one that's not going away because a pea-brained ditz like like you thinks they're irrelevant. I'll bet you wouldn't discredit any 2-bit award you managed to snare for your lame attempts at achieving recognition.

And if I lived for the approval of others, chrishayden, I wouldn't consider your disapproval of me as a badge of honor or would I constantly challenge the opinions of others on this board. All of which is too obvious for a numbskull like you to figure out.

(Award. That means an honor. What kind of honor can a bunch of bi pedal talking apes give me? What is an award? They can KEEP it. Give me the MONEY!)

Bi-pedal apes would be stooping to bestow an honor on you, crissyboy. And, of course, it hasn't occurred to you that an award can often generate money. So tell me have you quit your day job because you are able to live off of the money you've been given for your efforts?

(If I tell you how I make my money, I will have to kill you.

By the way, just because I turn my nose up at awards for myself does not mean I would not try to labor to get them for others...

...like yourself.

I have been working my fingers to the bone trying to get you a Nobel Prize. I can see it now.

They award you the prize. You step up to the podium to deliver your long, tedious boring thank you speech.

I jump out of the wings and goose you in the butt.

"SCREEECH!" howls Cynique louder than Howard Dean at the Iowa Primary.

It is captured by the cameras and played non stop on You Tube for weeks afterward.

I couldn't care less how you make your money, chrishayden And I don't even have to put forth an effort on your behalf when it comes to winning an award for being a half-cocked nonentity. You win that hands down.

And anybody who has contact with the outside world has already seen that Britney YouTube video you posted a link for in hopes of giving the impression that you are up on things.
