Now a while ago all the Responsible Negroes were telling all the rappers to emulate this dude--I guess he's allright.

Just a little high strung.

LAS VEGAS - Kanye West says he'll never return to MTV.

The 29-year-old rapper, who was shut out at the Video Music Awards on Sunday night, threw a tantrum in front of media and crew backstage as the MTV show was ending.

West, waiting for an elevator in a crowded hallway, began yelling about losing all five categories for which he was nominated, including male artist of the year.

"That's two years in a row, man ... give a black man a chance," said West, stomping around his entourage and directing his comments at a reporter. "I'm trying hard man, I have the ... No. 1 record, man."

It was the latest outburst from West at an awards show. Last year, he crashed the stage at the MTV Europe Awards after not winning for best video.

West's latest album, "Graduation," is due out Tuesday. 50 Cent has said he'd stop making solo records if West's CD outsells his "Curtis" album, also set for release Tuesday, in their first week out.

The 31-year-old rapper has been riled by forecasts that sales of West's "Graduation" could rival those for his CD.

West and 50 Cent appeared together at the VMAs to present an award.

Kanye West is the poster boy for "arrested development". He has the emotional maturity of a first-grader. What's with all of these dysfunctional performers who are so needy they go berserk if fans doesn't pay homage to them or if their rivals don't lay down and die.

Maybe the people at MTV didn't like that HORRIBLE album cover on "Graduation."

Speaking of the VMA Awards which were held last night in Vegas and televised on VHS, Britney Spears opened the show, and she was a disgrace. She looks like a NFL linebacker and she was stumbling around unable to keep up with her dancers. Even the audience was embarassed by her inept performance. This chick is a has-been who needs to fall-back and re-group.

I agree that Britney's performance was awful. Especially her outfit. She should have worn a short dress or something. She's not fat but not very shapely. With all that money, you'd think she could hire a personal stylist or something.

And Kanye sucks. So does his music.

kanye west is the new version of public enemy, his music has some substance as opposed to 80% of all other rappers out now. everybody acts a fool now and then, so i guess he needs to work on that, a brother just wants to be recognized for his hard, but again... he needs to work on his tude.

HORRIBLE album cover

I like it. Reminds me of old P-funk album covers. I also like the album.

Man, this ALL seems like a staged hype. The quote from Amazon was "don't hate by both". Amazon even has a little graphic show who has the most sales (Amazon is smart).

http://tinyurl.com/3d4s86

I guess this will prompt people to by CDs to show their support for either artist or to do their own comparisons of the mostly mediocre music. Either way they buy the music and even if you don’t buy the music you are at least aware of the CD’s being available for sale.

Mentioning a Kayne West in the same breathe as PE or P-Funk is almost sacrilege.

Maybe MTV does not care about Black people.

"Maybe MTV does not care about Black people."

Well, maybe black people should stop watching MTV.

Oh Shit! Kanye is outselling Fiddy and Fiddy said if Kanye sold more that he would retire (or something like that). Maybe people are buying Kanye just to get rid of Fiddy?!?!?!

I didn't say anything about comparing the music. The album cover art definitely reminds me of p-funk albums. But maybe you didn;t spend as much time as I did looking at and studying them back in the day. LOL

(smile) Yvettep yeah I know I was a little over the top with the sacrilege bit, but really Kayne album art is not even worthy of comparision (OK there I go again but you know what I mean).

Mzuri, 50 ain't going anywhere -- I don't care what he says.

ok troy fine i will put him on the same level as krs-1 then. and yeah krs-1 was a better rapper. but you have to put kanye in the same group of non-gangsta rappers as talib, common, and mos def.
which the new version of p.e. , krs-1, and i can't think of anyone else right now from back then that had something to say. kanye's cd is tight ... i'd give it a .5 out of 10 doberman stars. 50 cents cd is garbage i heard it on i-tunes those 30 seconds clips where thirty seconds too long.

also you can't tell me that kanye wouldn't have been on that self destruction song if he where out during those times. ... well you can tellme that, but you'd be wrong.

One Chicago reviewer gave Kanye West props for at least being able to make fun of himself as demonstrated in these rap couplets

"I feel the pressure,
under more scrutiny
And what I do?
Act more stupidly.
They'd rather give me
the nigga-please award but
I'll just take the
I-gotta-lotta-cheese award."

Take that, Fiddy! I luv it!
