This is one time that I really wanted to
tell Kola "post it yourself".
I don't see what's the use in getting work
done if you're going to tell everybody, but
she claims she'll feel guilty if she pretends
her new look is natural.
You guessed it.
Kola's completed a "partial face lift" and
wanted me to post the first picture now
that the swelling's gone down.

Kola, I am generally not a good judge of things like this as I think most folks look as good (sometimes even better) before such surgery as after. At the same time, however, as I get older I can see the point of people sometimes working at getting their "outsides" to match what they feel to be their "insides." So--the most important things are that (a) the surgery left you with your health, and that (b) you are happy with the results. I hope that the answer is affirmative on both counts! |

Kola, I find it strange that a woman of color (especially a black woman) in her early or middle forties has to have a face lift. I'm not opposed to such things if they make you feel better about yourself but I find it odd that you need a face lift at this time of your life. Women of color (especially black women) rarely need such cosmetic surgery while in their forties. Their skin is usually firm and holding and do not merit such surgery.
You remind me of Jewish friend of mine who whines and complains about her face all the time. She claims it is falling and sagging and she wants a face lift. She just turned 40. There is nothing seriously wrong with her face but she (like many women) keeps comparing herself to younger women on her job who are in their 20's and early 30's -many of whom are black, Latina and Filipino. And as everyone knows there tends to be a slight discrepancy between the aging of skin between very fair complexioned people and darker complexioned people. The skin of a 50 year white female tends to be different than that of a 50 year old woman of color. That said, again, I'm surprised you did this. But what are you going to do when you are 50? 55? 60? 65..........?
