I’d agree we Black foks tend to want to have our cake and eat it too. Though I DON’T think we’re unique in that regard.
But the biggest problem with BET was not what they’ve done over the last +20 years. The problem is that until just recently there were no OTHER Black-owned national TV/Cable stations. Therefore, Black foks invested a lot MORE (e.g., financially, mentally, emotionally, culturally, etc.) into BET than we might have been inclined to it there were more a variety of Black-owned stations and thus would have much less cause to be disappointed by what BET and Bob Johnson have and haven't done. |
