The Los Angeles Archdioseses will pay $660 million dollars to victims of priests sexual abuse. Biggest payout ever. The victims, however are calling for Mahoney's head.

Jesus! That's a lot of money to be paying out to altar boys who don't have sense enough to say "cut it out, father. I don't play that." These priests have turned into cash cows for grown men with "repressed memory" syndrome. Yeah, right.

I am not buying the repressed memory b.s. But there are more than a few women here in L.A. who have priests/baby daddies. The Church just kept transferring "problem" priests from parish to parish. It's embarassing to be a Catholic these days.

You know I always forget about those priests who are straight and take advantage of women. tsk-tsk. And I've never understood the rationale of protecting the child molesters. I can kinda understand, however, the excuse that "the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak" when it comes to lapses in celibacy. At least the priest observed the church rules about not using birth control.

^^^LOL.
The sad part about it is many, many Catholics feel like the whole dirty business should be shoved under the rug. Forgive and forget.

(I know this is not easy, but put yourself in their shoes. They are young kids. Probably not very secure in their own sexual identity. They have been targeted as likely prey by these predators, who groom them and set them up.

These are authority figures. The kids have been told that not only are they to be looked up to but they control a sacrament you need to be saved. You are told to believe in them, do everything they say. They are representatives of the Pope and of God. Their parents turn a total blind eye to them, or if they go to them they beat the kids and say they are lying because they are brainwashed.

Now finally. Should a man be let off for rape because the woman is too weak to stop him?)

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know all that. That's the conventional wisdom. And just think if they'd spoken up, they wouldn't be getting big buck settlements as adults.

And you're a self-rightous ol coot, chrishayden, who picks and chooses what he moralizes about. Now, you're injecting the subject of rape into your sermon when you trivialized this crime against women before. STFU. Tell all of those tramatized adults to get over their arrested development and urge the catholic church to donate all that money to help the victims in Darfur.
