I guess some Black men can't stand to see successful Black women!!

"WHY ARE YOU HATING ON THEM SO MUCH!!"

Did he state that he hated them SS..????

"No matter what you say they are still very successful. And they are doing quite well. Neither one of them are OUT!!"

Good. And we all wish them success. I think they are fantastic athletes. I've always like them. But it appears that they may no longer be the top two best in the world. So, why are you upset because the man gave an opinion?

"I guess some Black men can't stand to see successful Black women!!"

Uhhhhhh......once again SS, why are you so emotionall about someones opinion? Race has nothing to do with this. A comment about them possibly not being the best in the world has nothing to do with them being black women! THIS IS NOT A RACIAL ISSUE BUT ONE OF PURE DOMINATING ATHELETICISM AND TALENT. If he stated Kolby Bryant is not the best guard in the NBA, does that mean he is hating on black men..?????? Why all the histrionics over someones opinion that has nothing to do with race..?????

i'm not getting Chrishayden on this one because serena is far from washed up and is actually COMING BACK and playing better than she's ever played before. sure she had gotten sidetracked for a while with fashion, and modeling, etc. but now she is back to focusing more on tennis and is back to dominating her rivals just liek she use to do.

i jsut dont understand why chris would make this post after serena won the last match she played regardless of the fact that her right leg was cramping and she could hardly walk during part of the match...it really takes a warrior to come back from what she came back from..

One down One to go

Two hours later, the setting and the family were the same, yet the mood was far more subdued. Younger sister Serena shuffled off to the locker room, having lost to No. 1 Justine Henin in the quarterfinals at a second consecutive major.

Yeah, a "broken down" and hurting Serena still took the number one seed to three. If she is "washed up," what excuse does the rest of the field have?

BTW: GO VENUS!

Serena seems lovely and she is cute too.

He didn't too well last year, so I heard. In his previous years he won 2 million dollars prize money and sponsorship because he did so well. This year he has only won 10,000 dollars so far.

LOL don't ask me how I know, I am surprised I know myself!

They seem quite a cool couple though, both sportspeople. She's a lovely person so he is a lucky guy!

Sabiana:

Kola:

And SS would be right.

As much as black men have clowned and dissed her looks (according to "celebrity" BM, Venus and Serena both look like men)....and as many star-studded parties as we've seen in magazines where Venus Williams is all alone as ALL the black men were hugged up with latinas, video hoochie mulattos and white women....what in the hell was she supposed to do?

She got a financially-secure man with similar interests to her own...and to me, he's kinda sexy.

The "choices" that black men have...black women DO NOT.

Black girls outnumber black boys 5 to 1, in some places 8 to 1.

The majority of successful black men (and the losers, too) have made it clear that they do not prefer black women who look black.

Despite the lies spin.....The MEN do the choosing. Not the women.

India Arie cannot just walk up to a black man and CHOOSE him anymore than Kola Boof can.

Venus and Serena should not be expected to just take any ol black guy for the sake of being loyal to black men.

Any black woman, in 2007, who's trying to be loyal to black men....is a goddamned idiot.

POINT BLANK.

So go Venus. Congratulations on Wimbledon and I'm glad she's got a decent man who flaunts her and is on her level.

Kola, I watch a lot of Animal Planet with my daughters. In most of the animal kingdom, things are the other way around. The brightly colored and heavily adorned males strut and pose and preen and beg and the females say "yay" or "nay." So, maybe our species is the backwards one by letting the men be in charge of such an important topic as mating...

ABM:

Kola,

Perhaps Venus has much a preference for White men as many Black male celebrities appear to have for White women.

KOLA:

ABM, my love...

when they asked teenaged Venus Williams who she had a crush on/thought was cute--she responded "Michael Jordan" and "Young MC".

When they asked if she'd like to grow up and marry those men, she grinned with braces and nodded yes.

Both these Williams girls dated and were photographed with black men in the beginning, and just like Naomi Campbell (who Eddie Murphy informed she was too "dark skinned" right before he married a high yellow Naomi look-a-like in his wife Nicole and who has stated she got tired of being the hottest girl at the premiere and black men pushing her out of the way to get to white girls)...and just like Whoopi Goldberg aka Karen Johnson (whose first husband was black and used to tell her how ugly she is while beating the crap out of her), these girls have commented how black guys "just weren't that into them".

For Ted Danson and Frank Langella, two white men who are EQUAL financially to Whoopi, to BOTH have relationships with her that were longer than 5 years (she lived with Danson for 6 years and with Langella for 8 years though she refused to ever "remarry")....is proof that Whoopi went where Whoopi was accepted.

I find that MOST black women who are with non-black men actually do prefer black men (90% of the ones I talk to say that and I talk to a LOT of black women w/non-black husbands), and I'm quite certain that somewhere deep inside, ABM, you know that as well.

In fact, in future situations with your own daughters, you will be finding out just how hard black girls do try to be with black men only to run into---"You're a nice girl, but you're a Honda not a Mercedes"---mentality.

No matter how much black girls want black guys, they can't overcome what black boys are CONDITIONED to want by both general media and those famous O.J.s in charge of everything ie. BET who despise black women.

If I had a daughter, I would be raising her to own a business, own property, and as a young woman, to regularly visit Africa with an eye out for college-level up/and coming black men....but to also realize that she may not be accepted by a black man anywhere on earth...in which case, she might also find a very good mate in a white European or preferrably a Latino. But, of course, for the sake our family's bloodberry and my grandbabies, I would be pushing for a black man...if she could find a decent one.

If she's lesbian or bisexual, though I hate to admit it, her chances for finding happiness would be even better.

Though I personally have not ruled out dating non-black men, ABM...it's the fact that I have 2 black sons on the verge of teenhood....that insures that I will not be entering a serious committment with a man who is not black.

At this time, I have taken Marvin X's advice (he says that black women need to 'share' men) and so I have "several" boyfriends....most of them are black....but one of my two favorite ones is a latin king from Columbia.

But, as you well know, my preference is for black men. They're just a dying breed in this country.

Yvette:

Kola, I watch a lot of Animal Planet with my daughters. In most of the animal kingdom, things are the other way around. The brightly colored and heavily adorned males strut and pose and preen and beg and the females say "yay" or "nay." So, maybe our species is the backwards one by letting the men be in charge of such an important topic as mating...

KOLA:

Yvette, women really can choose if all we're looking is to get fukked and impregnated by leaping, tree-hopping males.

Unfortunately, because we're humans, there's a lot more semantics involved and the men CHOOSE who they will stand beside, flaunt and adore.

Women can't make men choose them or stand beside them, and quite honestly--in our society--it's the MEDIA that really PRE-sets the choosing.

Perhaps as white men begin to lose more and more of their daughters, they will allow the standards of what is "beautiful" to be expanded to include more authentic representations of non-white women
as "marriage ideals".

The upcoming very 1st Disney Princess movie is perhaps an indication that that is happening--because clearly, Massa has decided that WHITE CHILDREN will be shown the image of a dark skinned beautiful black princess marrying a white Prince (not a film that I will be supporting, but the fact that the princess is not a 'neutral looking mulatto' shows that the white man's hand is being forced).

If and when black women's beauty is allowed to have more STATUS attached to it---then black men will begin to horde and fight for their own women.

Men want the women that the society considers "trophies" and the media assigns who those trophy images are.

During the "BLACK POWER MOVEMENT"---black men attempted to assign their own trophies and black men elevated the true black woman as his ideal, but just as the "negro-stock" sold out Nat Turner's revolution to burn down the big house--the old guard mulatto blue bloods and the self-hating black folks ganged up and slapped some "sense" into the Black Power "Black Is Beautiful" nonsense----James Brown went on to marry white women, Diana Ross ascended, the Afro died and we got O.J. and Sidney Poitier.

The ni66erstock stopped the Blacks from
successfully establishing a "black beauty
ideal"----and the "Mulatto Imitation White Woman" was reinstated on her throne in the black community---until black men could kick her to the curb as well and attain the real thing.

Black women, traditionally, have only been depicted as SLAVES, MAIDS and now HO's, and in general, that is how ALL MEN see us...but I do believe that it will change, as for the first time in history, Black women are now being forced to form a revolution that advocates for THEMSELVES, and on top of it, other races of men have a stake in supporting changing the image of black women--as their squeezed out and rejected sons will also be in need for more women in the "dating pool".

It's a cycle and though black women are suffering now---once they accept that black men do not love them EN MASSE and that all of black men's previous speeches about "race loyalty" were just Ego Tripping---they will unleash what is the power of the black woman and make themselves into a force of their own.

No woman on earth has the natural WOMANLINESS that black women do.

Other races of women are "dolls" trained in the ways of "femininity".....but animal womanliness is pure and natural in the black woman.

Venus Williams, who has stated as a teen that she had crushes on "Michael Jordan" and "Young MC"---has grown up to make the best choices that a girl who looks like her can make.

ABM, I have to say that Kola is not lying here at all. I live in a PREDOMINANTLY BLACK neighborhood....I hang out and shop in predominantly black neighborhoods....

so why the heck is it that 85-90% of the men who try to come on to me are white, asian, or hispanic?

Kola,

I don't know if what Venus and Serena said to a reporter as giggly teenagers really means anything about what they actually want and will do as adult women.

Serena's dated Black male celebrities. I've seen and heard about her kicking it with pro football and pro basketball players. And I think she's currently dating a Black actor.

But all I've ever seen and heard about Venus suggests that she likes White men.

Got no beef with or responsibility for what and whom they do. BUt I don't think it fair to assume that Serena was/is anymore serious about Black men than they are about her.

And how interested in Whoopi would Danson and Langella if she was NOT famous?

Honestly. I wouldn't want to date Whoopi, either. And it's ain't because she's dark. I mean, let's face it: Chick does NOT come off as being very FEMININE.

I guess I'd agree Black women would prefer to be with Black men. But then, I'm not a Black woman so WTF do I know what's really going on in your minds and hearts.

Recently, both of my daughters (16 and 12) joked about their getting them some cute White boys to date. I think they said that thinking it would bother me. I just said laughed and shrugged my shoulders.

Renata,

I don't know. But lemme me flip it: White women are much more pleasant and talkative with me in public than Black women. Often, sistas appear downright HOSTILE towards a brotha. And I'll bet A LOT of Black men have similar experiences.

So maybe what you're experiencing is the result of Black men reacting to the cold shoulder treatment from sistas.

ABM, you may have a point about black women's growing disinterest in black men.

I have noticed how the constant "images" in society of black men always paired with non-black women have made me less attracted to them.

I was recently at a farm mall and a large group of "fire fighters" were holding some kind of telethon outside the barn---they had 3 black firemen, very gorgeous, to prance on a stage with their shirts off---and to my shock, I felt absolutely nothing. It was the most boring, numb feeling watching them sashay.

I looked around and noticed that the other black women (about 17) were just as disinterested as I was.

Because this was in largely white Riverside, the white women and latinas in the crowd (about 70 in all) were very subdued and "poker faced" (other than a few very fat and LOUD white girls who openly screamed for the black men), but I do believe that the white and latina women were more enchanted with the black men.

In the end, however, when the women's "applause" chose the winners....none of the black men were chosen by the crowd for the "Winner's Hats"---a super fine ass blond fireman and a white brunette and a Mexican won the "Hats"--all of them, I have to admit, fine as fine can get.

I did, on GP, go up to one of the black firemen who wasn't in the contest and put a $20 donation in his coffee can and he said, "Much appreciated, Mam".

But you're right----I find that many black women
are becoming so affected by the CONSTANT IMAGERY of black men "separated" from us, that they just aren't attracted to them...and larger than that...I think there is a latent "lack of respect" for black men by many of the smarter black women.

Whereas younger black women feel a lack of attraction---older black women have lost respect.

NOW REMEMBER---this is California, which is a whole different world than some places back east and down south.

But it's really a tragedy, because of course in the end, the black man will discover that the only one who ever really loved him was the black woman.

The black woman, however, has not been loved by anyone, so I think there will be less of a feeling of loss for her.

But I remember that very last BONE-CRUSHING scene in "AMISTAD" where Djimon Hounsou finally "gets free" and makes it back to Africa--only to find that his beloved wife has disappeared from the earth with not a clue where she might have been taken.

Though black men, in their hateful sexism have compared the rape and slaughter of "black slave women" to having a "romance with the white man"---the real truth is that the black man never protected us, and out of his guilt in that--he blamed us---and now he has betrayed us, Africa, his seed...everything.

This is even worse than the slave trade this go around.

I see our race dead.

Kola,

You know, it's entirely possible that Black women are simply turning on to non-Black men for reasons that have nothing to do with Black men.

It could simply relate to there coming along in an epoch where White men do NOT appear to them to be scourge they were to prior generations of Black women.

Understand, most Black women who are born and bred over the last 20 years or so have NOT had the negative experiences with White men that, perhaps, their mothers and grandmothers had.

And you have a blending of cultures. You have Robin Thicke, a Justin Timberlake, etc. who've sorta blended White and Black such that White men don't always appear as stereotypically White as their fathers appeared.

Take my wife. ALL of her favorite male movie stars are WHITE men. She gets more turned on by Daniel Craig and Matt Damon (don't ask me why) than she does Denzel Washington and Will Smith

Yet she's (I presume...Hahahahahaha!!!) happily married to a Black man.

There are LOTS of issues with Black men, especially younger ones. But, again, I don't think necessarily fair or accurate to attribute ALL of what Black women think/do about dating and marrying to what Black men do.

It's more complex than that.

Kola,

But I'd agree with you that Black men have not adequately protected Black women. That's because we've been weak. And you, via your blood and womb, contributed to our being such.

Because, after all, you ARE our MOTHERS.

Yes?

No it's not.

No...

...no it's not.

I don't think black men have been WEAK, ABM.

I think black men have been SELFISH and FOOLISH (suckered).

Not necessarily weak.

The sad thing...is that African culture is like Arab Islamic culture.

There is NO RESPECT for the "mother's" opinions.

The men burn the women who disagree or question them (they were called "fire witches", "man bashers").

In African culture, ABM, the father raises the son from a certain age to a certain age---the son is taught that the mother was now BOW and be obedient to him as well as his father.

And when you have "Queen Mothers" who fear the wrath of their sons and infibulated "polygamy wives" whose tongues will be cut out if they
dare disagree or disobey with their husbands
--then you have a world where there's nothing
women can do but be dragged along on the journey
of their menfolk.

One reason that black men "during slavery" didn't protect black women, ABM....is because they were paired up with women from enemy tribes.

The Whites deliberately mated a Fulani with a Mandingo, a Wolof with a Denkinyira...etc...and
because of this, a Fulani man was not about to give his life defending the honor of a Mandingo woman, his mortal enemy.

Honestly--black women could get over not being protected. We just want our black men to love us.

But to hate us and blame us for our own rape!

To damn our features because whites said we look "different" and are therefore an ugly race!?

Then to abandon us!

Kola,

Selfishness and foolishness (and laziness and ignorance) are evidence of WEAKNESS. And I'd agree we Black men have been all that.

We're not unique in that regard. But we, and Black women, have suffered most from such weakness.

Perhaps part of our weakness stems from our not adequately appreciating the view and feelings of Black women.

I don't know. All I see, hear and experience are Black women chirping about stuff.

Hell. In this country in particular are see Black women doing BETTER, living longer, being more employable, better educated, etc. than Black men.

When I consider that, I wonder whether the problem is we should BE more like Black women.

When you consider where we are and what you describe of our history you wonder why sistas should even bother with us.

*shrugs*

Black women, traditionally, have only been depicted as SLAVES, MAIDS and now HO's, and in general, that is how ALL MEN see us...but I do believe that it will change, as for the first time in history, Black women are now being forced to form a revolution that advocates for THEMSELVES

this being the case then it seems like black men turning to non-black women is actually working in our best interest. i think that's what it probably took for black women to focus more on themselves and their own well-being as a group

by the way i gave you 5 stars on those 2 last posts of yours....you basically told my story and how i felt at a very young age ....i think both you and abm make excellent points in this topic.
