She sounds like Macy Gray, which reminds me, Macy Gray is someone I need to add to my collection. Hey. Which Betty Davis album is the best to get my feet wet? And while you’re at it, if you know, who’s that artist from several years back that made that hit song that included these lyrics:

Betty Davis is without a doubt one of the most underrated, creative and ahead-of-her-time artists of the past three decades. I recall listening to her non-stop back during my college days. Nice to see folks taking a renewed interest in the sista. |

I'm listening to the radio--this alternative radio station--when the DJ pops on "I Just Might Get Picked Up"--solid! Smokin'. I hadn't heard it in years--the first time I heard it a guy called himself messing with me--thought I'd hear her and be revolted--hell! I ran right out and bought the album.
Betty was ahead of her time--and hanging out with such fast company probably took a lot of starch out of her, too! |
