LA Sheriff Lee Baca releases Paris Hilton from jail early.

LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa supports “earned citizenship” (i.e., amnesty) for 12 million+ illegal border crossers.

US Attorney General Alberto Gonzales fires 8 top U.S. attorneys who were just doing their job and imprisons two border patrol agents who shot an illegal drug smuggler from Mexico.

Perhaps we're all starting to get the real picture on how the border "invasion" is really going to change how things will be run in the US when they (latinos) take over. Hmmmm. I smell a rat.

You're late. The takeover is done.

BTW, the Border Patrols aren't in prison for the shooting, they're in prison for trying to cover it up.

Actually Eastwest, your wrong. Countries of South America and North America (including Central America and the islands of the Caribbean Sea) south of the U.S. are indeed considered to be Latin; the term is often restricted to countries where either Spanish or Portuguese is spoken. The colonial era in Latin America began in the 15th – 16th centuries when explorers such as Christopher Columbus and Amerigo Vespucci made voyages of discovery to the New World.

I hate to tell you this Eastwest, having a girlfriend, or "babymomma", does not make you an expert of the definition of Latin America. You only made that comment to goad other members on the board into annoyment;(of course SS took the bait). However, I do think you are a troll.

I do have one major problem, however with all the recent Hispanic immigration.

Millions of people from other countries come here legally, actually learn English, to come to America.(Germans, etc) What are we saying to them?

Also, I understand corporations feel the need to push and sell to the new growing masses, but I think its unfair for ME(English speaker, American-born citizen), to spend time learing Spanish, and not vice versa, when the language of America primarily is English in the first
place.

I guess not for long.

Sabiana and EastWest, in addition to Brazilians being Latinos, Haitians are also Latinos. People seem to overlook that fact because they (Haitians) for the most part have Black phenotypes, so they are considered "just Black" by most. As far as someone being classified Latino, it's my understanding that it's based on language and colonization. French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, and Romanian are all Latin derivative languages. Therefore, the countries that were once colonized and ruled and, in most cases, enslaved by Spaniards, the Portuguese, the French are now Latin countries and the people of those countries are Latinos; however, the French, Spaniards, the Portuguese, the Italians, and the Romanians are Latins, not Latinos. See the distinction?

As for the overwhelming influx of illegal Latino, mostly Spanish-speaking, immigrants? I, personally, have no problem with them coming here, but I have a problem with HOW they come here and what they do once they get here. "I smell a rat." I couldn't have said it better, Nels.

Sabiana,Are You Bitter or Something?
Why would MY having a Brazilian girlfriend,
Goad Other people on the board to ANNOYANCE?
Nels the guy who started this post happens
to like Brazilian women too.

I Hope the NORMAL People on this Board,
are not obsessed about Who Other People Date.
BTW I've been to Brazil, Some of the people there do not consider them selves to be the same as OTHER Latinos.

There are Brazilians who do not like MEXICANS
There are Brazilians who Look down,
on other Latin countries there are also
Brazilians Who Do not like to be called Latino.

Brazil may be considered to be a Latin country
but I Know more than a few Brazilians Who
DO NOT consider themselves to be Latino.

(What do you EXPECT them to do? Say, "No we don't want anymore of our homies over here so we can't take over and will keep on getting stepped on.

ONLY a Negro would do that. They are sticking with their own. Just like Irish people who let Catholic Irish stay here illegallly and Jewish people who arrange for Jewish immigrants to immigrate and speak nothing but Hebrew and live on welfare as do the Hasidim.

Learn Spanish and go with the flow. Rich folks want them. They don't talk back (for now) and you Negroes want too much money.

You been kissing white folks ass all this time. What--you don't want to kiss ass because the guy speaks Spanish?

You're late. The takeover is done.

(Too late. It is theirs. They had it and the Anglos took it from them in the 19th century and they are taking it back--call it La Reconquista. It is a done deal. Learn Spanish and try to go for Puerto Rican.

Haitians are also Latinos.

(Haitians speak French or a patois of same. They are not Latinos nor are the Jamaicans or anybody else that don't speak Spanish)

Wrong, Chris. Haitians ARE Latinos. Do some research for crying out loud!

Good point, EastWest. I've also met Brazilians who don't identify as Latino. Some identify as White, others as Black, others as mixed. But that doesn't change the fact that the country itself is classified as a Latin country and its citizens are classified as Latinos. However, how an individual Brazilian chooses to see him/herself is their own business.

The most common view is that Latin America includes territories in the Americas where Spanish or Portuguese prevail: Mexico, most of Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. The English-speaking countries of North and South America are not included in Latin America. Territories where other Romance languages such as French (e.g., Quebec in Canada) or Kreyol (e.g. Haiti, Martinique and Guadeloupe) predominate are frequently not considered to be part of Latin America from this perspective, despite the French origins of the concept. The former Dutch colonies Suriname, Netherlands Antilles and Aruba are not considered parts of Latin America, even though in the latter two, the predominantly Iberian-influenced language Papiamento is spoken by the majority of the population.[1]

(So Haitians wanna be white too, eh?)

I always thought that technically what are called the Romance languages were all of those that were derived from Latin which was spoken by the Romans, and these languages include Spanish, Italian, Portugese, French and Romanian.
Hispanics have overtaken the Chicagoland area. They are the ones who are waiting on you in stores, fast food joints, restaurants, even the banks. They are who are standing in front of and in back of you in the lines with their little children scrambling around. They are the ones who switch languages in the middle of a sentence, leaving you to wonder if they are talking about you. They have also starting to take over the school districts and in a case just recently in Chicago, the Hispanic-controlled school council kicked out a black principal because they didn't think she could relate to her predominatly Hispanic student body. I have a Spanish first name (Consuelo) and when this is noted, I'm always amused to detect a change in attitude toward me by these people.

LOL!

I was talking to my favorite cousin last night and he was lamenting that the Mexicans are EVERYWHERE. He said that while he resided in Houston (a few years ago) he couldn't wait to get back home (to Nashville) so that there wouldn't be so many of them and they are ALL OVER THE PLACE!!! Like the plague.

Chris --

"Hmmmm. I smell a rat."

Don't take a little humor for weakness or ignorance. I'm well aware of who's who, and who is "NOT".

"You're late. The takeover is done."

Redundant old news. Have you ever heard of "sarcasm"? Aargh!

You should feel right at home.

Same thing goes for SoCal. I live in San Diego and I can personally tell you the Latino population has doubled in the past 20 years here. And because of gutless PC controlled Democrats, a large stable of Republican whores for corporate lobbyists and a big business Globalization hypocrite in the White House (Bush), you can expect the migration to continue across America unabated and unchallenged. I'm still in Ohio (leaving in a few days) and it's almost strange not seeing Mexican immigrants here (but there is no shortage of Puerto Ricans!). But it's just a matter of time until they spill over into the Mid Western states and dominate........

NT - Roll thru Louisville, Clarksville, Nashville and Memphis on your way back to Cali and you'll see plenty of Mexicans, trust me. The biggest problem with Mexicans is that they don't believe in birth control and they are popping out babies faster than any other group.
