June is Art and Music Month

June is art and music month
I wish it could be celebrated throughout the entire year
so that I can pay tribute to great artists and musicians
who created images to feed our mind
music to heal our spirit
elevate our soul
Lois Mailou Jones depicted masks
Sam Gilliam whose abstractions were full of color and strength
Jacob Lawrence whose subjects were outrageous
Romare Bearden style impressive
Duke Ellington whose jazzy lyrics moved like the wind
James Brown got soul
Bob Marley roots music full of positive messages.
June is art and music month
