There's no way I can comment on this without seeing it in its entirety because I don't trust Oprah at all on this topic....She suffers HORRIBLY from self-hatred herself. Dr. Robin seemed quite capable tho & well-informed, from what I read of the exchange between she, Najee, and Tangela, in the link provided above. It's a shame that Mr. Crouch (or some other Blk critic/columnist) didn't preview this show for the Blk community so that we'd know it was airing. Oprah should air it again as a service to the Blk/minority community for those who missed it.

Oprahs done these shows on color prefernce before least five times what so special about this show? on one of the previous shows she admitted she was raised colorstruck and took out her 'green' eyes permanently the audience applauded and she cried, I can't believe Tanya and the soul patrol missed that.

I think you can catch the entire episode on Youtube.

"So I missed it. What a shame. What is going to happen with that little boy Najee he is just going to hook up with a White/non-black female"

I agree. But I wished Oprah would have featured a young African American girl. Most young black guys aren't under any pressure by society to look or become whiter in appearance.

Thats true BB but Black men have a different way of handling it. For instance, to indulge themselves in there self-hatred all they have to do is pair up with the non-Black woman. And they will blame Black women and the Black race for there Black skin tone. Now Black women on the other hand will "mutilate" themselves just to become for acceptable but will also blame the Black race for being under constant pressure to do so.

Also, I felt it was kind of wrong and "out of place" for High Yella Robin Smith to act like the expert on colorism when she has always been on benefitting end of it. Its almost equilivent to a White woman commenting on the subject.
