I don't think "most white people" are lying about race to look foolish or attempt to insult black people's intelligence, I think "they", especially your average white person -working, paying bills, raising the family type - simply "play dumb" in attempt to avoid serious conflict/confrontation. |

Quiet as it's kept, non-black people talk about race among themselves all the time (sometimes, however, they forget they are on television with millions of people listening) and not always in flattering terms.
I had a friend a light-skinned sista who said she was appalled the way some folks talk about people of color, not realizing she is black. Worst of all they expected her to agree/laugh along.

I think we all agree that most white folks DO LIE when they are discussing race--either amongst themselves or with black people.
This very fact has got several of you upset but I see it as another case of shoot the messenger.
My explanation for it:
As usual, there are several.
1) Most white folks, like most Americans have been raised to think there are no racial problems. That America is the land of the free. That we are all one big happy family.
When they see or hear evidence to the contrary this introduces a contradiction into their mix that they cannnot tolerate. The idea that America is heaven is an idea that they will not let go.
So they will lie, much like some abused women will claim that their spouse is not beating them.
Another reason.
2) They just cannot bring themselves to agree with a black person about anything, especially something so emotional.
Another reason.
3) Some of them are scared of everything, and believe that if we start talking about race for real we black people--against all evidence, will rise up and slaughter them for their sins.
After all this is what they would do--and what John Wayne, Arnold Schwarzenegger and all who follow the tradition of revenge espoused by their Germanic tradition would do.
Another reason
4) The truth just ain't in some of them.
Another reason.
5) They are embarassed about it and lie like they will about a crazy old aunt they keep locked away in a basement.
Now--I am sure everybody knew this, especially those who were in denial.

Here's the obvious answer: WHITE PEOPLE LIE ABOUT RACE BECAUSE THEY KNOW THAT THEY COMPLETELY SCREWED UP WITH OTHER RACES IN THE PAST--AND CONTINUE TO DO SO--SO IN ORDER TO AVOID UNPLEASANTRIES, THEY TRY AND BULLSHIT THEIR WAY OUT OF A CONFRONTATION WITH RACIAL ISSUES.....especially where blacks are concerned. They can bullshit their way by either 1) rationalizing their abuse of blacks, saying it was either a necessary evil(for whatever dumb reason they can conjure up--usually it's because blacks are "inferior") or 2) pretending they don't see color, which is total bullshit. |

Yukio, please don't give Moonsigns further reason to believe her opinion as a white person is so important to us. I always keep it light with moonsigns. Her attitude makes it clear that she's used to Blacks looking to her for approval.
