There was a list on AOL of the saddest songs ever. They left off my choice. Please list what you think is the saddest song ever and why. (You can also name the happiest if you prefer).

My choice: Gilbert O'Sullivan's "Alone again, naturally". He's stood up at his own wedding, he contemplates suicide, his parents die, and he questions the existence of God all in one song. Beat that.

Candle in the Wind sung by Elton John when Princess Diana died

Just about everything Annie Lennox sings about is sad and depressing

All those begging songs by the old bluesmen

Tammy Wynette's D-I-V-O-R-C-E is probably the saddest of all. Cause she's getting divorced from a man that she still loves. That's sad.

....My Bad. Get Here reminds me of the troops; Better Days is about some woman whose grandmother is dead; a woman finds that her boyfriend married someone else in Congratulations; and in As We Lay a married woman realizes she's in love with a married man. …All very sad to me.
