Foxy Brown tells her side of Fla. arrest

NEW YORK (AP) — Foxy Brown turned up in a Brooklyn church to tell her side of the story of how a visit to a Florida beauty supply store went awry and ended in her arrest.
The 27-year-old rapper said she was dragged half-naked out of the store's restroom and then picked on by police officers because she is black.
"I was exposed from the waist down on the toilet," she said Monday at Brown Memorial Baptist Church in the Clinton Hill neighborhood.
"The only crime I'm guilty of is being a young black woman," Brown said.
Brown, whose real name is Inga Marchand, could face jail time if a judge decides she violated probation after she got in trouble for hitting two manicurists with a cellphone in 2004. She has to go back in front of the Manhattan judge this week.
Police in Florida have said that Brown spat on the store's owner and then got into a scuffle with an officer in the parking lot. The incident occurred Feb. 15, when Brown and a friend stopped at the shop in Pembroke Pines, Fla.
Brown said she was only going to the bathroom, but the store owner refused to let her finish and then dragged her out, still undressed.
Store owner Hayssam Ghoneim said he asked Brown to leave the restroom because he was closing up shop. But he said she spat on him, and that a surveillance video shows that the rapper left the restroom door open the entire time.
Brown was charged with resisting an officer and simple battery, police said.
The rapper is known for her sexy outfits and racy lyrics. Her albums include Ill Na Na and Chyna Doll.

Foxy could be innocent of this particular crime. Once these rappers misbehave in public they do become a target. If she screamed and saliva shot from her mouth, for someone looking to make a dollar, that was spitting.

True, but she's already established a pattern of violent behavior. She could possibly be innocent of this second assault, but she violated her probation in New York when she traveled to Florida without the consent of her probation officer (from what I've gathered). I think that all of this commotion with the press conferences is nothing but a smokescreen tactic.

The more I think about this the more her story doesn't wash. There's much more to this "episode" if the man wouldn't even let her use the restroom. How do you deny someone that basic function, especially if she already had her pants down or whatever. And the way she's standing in the picture laughing is inappropriate. If any of us were harrassed, traumatized or assaulted I think we'd have a more somber demeanor, not standing with our attorneys laughing and grinning.

Judge Gives Foxy Brown One More Chance

NEW YORK -- Foxy Brown, warned by a judge that her next probation offense would be her last, was allowed to remain free Thursday after she pleaded guilty to violating probation by leaving New York without permission.
Brown was arrested during a fracas at a beauty supply store in Pembroke Pines, Fla., on Feb. 15. Police charged her with resisting an officer and simple battery.
Lawyers for the Department of Probation and the Manhattan district attorney's office urged Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Melissa Jackson to jail the 27-year-old rapper, whose real name is Inga Marchand. Both, in effect, called her incorrigible.
But Jackson said, "If she pleads guilty to leaving the jurisdiction without permission, I will allow her to continue on probation with the condition that on the next violation, she's getting resentenced."
"I'm going to give her basically what is a third chance," the judge said. "I'm going to give her one more chance -- three strikes and you're out. Basically, I'll be giving the keys to the jailhouse to Ms. Marchand."
"I'm reserving the right to resentence you to jail for a year," Jackson told Brown. "You have the key, but that key will be taken away from you in a flash" if the rapper commits another violation.
Brown, in 3 1/2-inch heels and a tight tan plaid skirt and mauve blouse, smiled broadly and spoke animatedly outside court about the judge's decision.
"I believe Judge Jackson believes I'm trying to work hard," Brown said. "She seems to be saying, `I'm pulling for you, kiddo.' She's seeing the maturity in me and she believes in me. I'm at the rebuilding stage as a person."
Brown was sentenced to three years' probation and anger management classes after a fight with manicurists over payment at a nail salon in Manhattan's Chelsea area in 2004.
On Thursday, the judge told Brown she had to have a counseling session at least once a week for the next year.
Jackson told Brown's lawyer, State Sen. John Sampson, "If your client could have impulse control, she'd be fine."

Like many people/celebrities, Foxy has been through a great deal. Mourning a miscarriage, the resulting depression, and a bad break-up play a huge part in her unhappiness, she's admitted.
So I pray for her. 'Cause if she actually spit on these people -- then hung around to pee, like she was chillin' back at the mo' -- she is further gone than we realized.
