I dont think its any different than meeting someone locally. You can meet a nut at your church, a bar, the grocery store..getting the negative out of the way..AND you can meet someone you can become friends with that could result in marriage as I know MANY folks who did this.

I'm not closed minded at all. When I registered for a MySpace I lost count of all the messages from local brothers that wanted to "hook up" so I know all about it.
It's just not wise in this day and age with all the criminals and psychopaths (who are much more prevalent now than they were twenty years ago when I was about your age) preying on unsuspecting victims that they "meet" on the internet. And in case you don't watch the news, women come up missing all the time, because they continue to put themselves in compromising positions by going out to meet with strangers that they found on chat lines, personals ads, Craig's List and MySpace.
Meanwhile, you don't need to worry about what I'm doing. Whatever it is I'm not so desperate for men that I need to troll the web. There's plenty of real life dick to be had right here where I'm at. And it's not the freaks from MySpace.

There is no real need for me to be doing stuff like that - I go to university so I have a wide social circle anyways by default (in uni it is very easy to make friends and meet people).

i don't think someone is desperate just because they meet someone online, your options online are just as good as when you meet at a bar or a club. the most screwed up women i have ever met where the ones that i saw at churches, that and those 2 strippers i dated. meet people how ever you want to meet them, at least if you meet them online and they murder you or something, at least they'll be able to track them down easier  |

Meet somebody in a club, face to face. Talk with them. Have a couple of drinks. Dance with them. Strike it up. Leave with them.
I know of women who wound up dead doing that.
Now, if you can't really know anybody after talking with them face to face, how can you know them through the web.
The other person might not be one but could be several people using the same id or computer. They might be any sex. They might conceivably not even be human but a program devised to give answers you like.
How is it so many male adult law enforcement officers are able to convince men that they are 14 year old girls.

there are criminals everywhere.....
i think you jsut have to be intelligent enough to know how to go aobut cyberdating.
every boyfriend ive had from the internet i had been talking to them for quite a while...one of them i had been talking to him online for 2 years before we got into a relationship. its not liek i jsut met these guys after 2 weeks of talking to them.
i get to know them thrrough talking to them on the phone, through looking at them on their webcam, and through messaging other people on their friends lists who already kow them to get somewhat of a sense of what they're really like in person from other peoples perspectives....i also sometimes talk to their family members before meeting them....plus when i meet them its not like i meet them alone in some closed place...when i first meet them i tell them that i showed all of my friends their picture and that i told my firneds we were meeting up,.....i do this to make sure they know not to try anything....when we meet i meet them in an open spot where alot of people are on the first day we meet. then as i get more comfortable things turn more normal and you can be with them more alone.
plus jsut like we all come togather and talk on here and get to know eachother on here.....often times thatrs a good way to see what people are about in a way. |

none of my boyfriends that ive met have been perverts like you all say...if that was the case i wouldnt have had 2 year relationships with any of my ex's...there are all kinds of upstanding guys that are unline...some of them i ended up just beinf friends wiht due to various reasons liek them being too far away or already being in a relationship...etc....but nontheless alot of them are better quality than many of the guys ive met in person. and that's the good thing about the internet is that it gives you a wider range of guys to choose from and get to know....because its much quicker to connect with them.
of course there are internet perverts but you jsut have to be able to be smart enough to weed them out. most of those people you see getitng killed by internet perverts are teenagers (in fact all of them that i know of are naive teenagers or little kids) |
