Well, the Colts won. I was pulling for the Bears but it wasn't to be. Not trying to pile on but Steve Grossman killed the Bears! The guy sucked!!! Weakest quarterback in the NFL. Although I have no use for the Colts, I do like Tony Dungy so I'm happy for him. It was a win-win situation for me. I just wanted to see a brother engineer and will the post prestigious game in football as the head coach. It's a great day for black pro coaches. I'm hoping to see more of this.

Yep. Now all the Monday morning quarterbacks are questioning Lovie Smith's faith in Grossman, as well they should. And, I personally think the NFL should consider only having superbowl games in domed stadiums. |

REX Grossman did not have a great game. But I think it was the DEFENSE (especially the almighty middle linebacker Brian Urlacker) that blew the game. Because there were MANY situations in the game where the defense flatout FAILED. And it wasn't Peyton Manning who was doing the damage. It was the Colts RUNNING game that was punking the the Bears defense.
Still. If the Bears were playing with even a middle-of-the-pack QB, they would have had an EVEN shot at winning that game. |

Yep. I don't mean to slam one player but Grossman was a glaring hole in their hopes of winning. This is no secret -EVERYONE KNEW THIS AND HE DIDN'T DISAPOINT THEM! I was hoping he would prove his critics (including me) wrong. Well, you saw what happened. The Colts defense played a stellar game. The Colts DB's were the stake in the heart of the Bears. Needless to say, the defense of the Bears in 2007 was not a shadow of the Bears in 1985. I hate to compare teams at various periods, but the defense of 1985 was very hard core. The Bears defense in 2007 wasn't bad, but not has tight as in 1985. Plus, the Bears offense of 2007 was suspect for the whole season. My best friend who is a hard core Bears fan commented that he was surprised they got as far as they did. They'll have to lick their wounds for the rest of their lives for this one.

During the regular season, the Bears lost 2 of their best 4 defensive players: Defensive Tackle Tommie Harris and Strong Safety Ron Brown. Prior to getting injured, Harris was considered the League's best DT. And not only was Brown a gutt-busting, game-breaking Pro Bowl safety, he (NOT Urlacker) was the LEADER of the defense. The Bears defense precipitously DROPPED in intensity/potency when they lost those 2 guys.
I HONESTLY believe if Tommie Harris and Ron Brown were playing for the Bears at the level they were at before they got injured, the Bears beat (if not MANHANDLED) the Colts. |

Isn't the injured Bear strong safety's name Mike Brown, not Ron Brown?

True. As I stated before, my best friend didn't think the Bears would make it through the play offs because they were a decent team but very over rated. I was surprised to hear him say this being that he is a Bears fanatic. Oh well, it seems as if his beliefs came true.

Hey Cynique,...I made that comment about the domed stadium as well and the men at the party where I was said..it would have taken all the fun out the game..thats how they do it. Its a REAL game when they play in rain snow etc...

Yes, that's the same thing I was told, Li-Li. I guess it's like the post office motto that "neither rain nor sleet nor threat of snow will deter the post men from their appointed rounds. The Mail must go through!" But snow, not rain is Chicago Bear weather and maybe if it had been snowing, Da Bears would've done better. Oh, well. |

sorry cynique but i knew the bears would lose and i put my money where my mouth was and am the proud owner of $240 dollars.
*see my pregame posts where i said colts by 10 
i feel sorry for thomas jones, he should've been carrying the ball all game he played great. cedric benson is an average running back and the bears just need to quit expecting grossman and benson to be high caliber just because they where drafted high, at this point they will never be great players just solid back-ups. |

I don't think the Bears were playing above themselves...AT ALL.
If you exclude the QB position (which I admit is a BIG one to exclude), position-4-position the Bears rate right up there with ANY other team in the NFC, especially before Harris and Brown got hurt.
Hell. EIGHT Bears players were selected for the PRO BOWL. That's NOT the result of a smoke/mirrors team.
And you CAN'T just bvllshyt your way to a 13-3 regular season record and a Super Bowl berth in the N.F. of L. |

What's with all of you football "experts" and player names. It's REX Grossman, not Steve Grossman! And what astute football maven didn't say that Grossman was a big liability if his evil twin showed up at the line of scrimmage which he did, just as these same folks are now saying that the Bears were overrated, a good mediocre team; which, in addition to having been lucky, they were. |

Opps! Sorry about that. I realized the mistake later but it was too late to correct it. My bad. I still like the bears but REX Grossman has to come up to speed. It's not all about him but you can't win big with a sub par quarterback.

Not really. I realized the mistake after I posted it but I just shrugged my shoulders and moved on. Everyone who responded knew who I was talking about. But yes, I initially did get his first name wrong. I was wrong but I didn't think it was extremely major. It's not as if I said the Bears quarterback was Drew Brees. Now that would have been totally unacceptable. Ha! Ha! Ha!

I can just imagine! Ha! Ha! Ha! Oh yeah, when I talked to my mom (Ohio) today, she told me about the weather back there. I think the high was 7 degrees and expected low tonight is -11! Bro, I was raised in but I don't miss it! Today I had a short sleeve shirt on, ball cap with sun glasses sitting outside of Starbucks reading a bio! I can't stand it! Ha! Ha! Ha!
