Has phag become the social/career toxin that the n-word has (at least for White foks) been the last 20 years?
I ask that because I’ve been reading Isaiah Washington will likely be fired from Grey’s Anatomy for allegedly calling castmate T.K. Knight a phag on set last October (Coincidently, Knight IS gay.). I say allegedly because Washington still denies what happen while Knight and several of their Grey’s castmates assert otherwise.
To be fair, the current spin against Washington is not so much that he committed this most grievous offense but that he’s publicly refused to concede guilt to and appear contrite about what happened.
So not only did Washington call Knight a phag. He is in professional psychology parlance what’s commonly referred to as a Big Fat Liar.
And it hasn’t helped Washington any that Knight elected to go the martyred queer route of talking about his pain on the Ellen DeGeneres show.
Btw: Washington, apparently, has never endeared himself to the foks at Grey. He’s been called unfriendly, aloof and temperamental (Possible Translation: Uppity N-word, who refuses to let us good White foks punk him?).
So he has NO goodwill upon which he could draw sympathy and leeway.
Now. Assuming that Washington is guilty of what he’s been accused of, do you think he should be canned? And, mind you, former US Senator and aspiring presidential candidate George Allen lost both his seat in the Senate AND any legitimate shot at the presidency largely for his allegedly saying the n-word over 20 years ago.
If Allen can permanently lose his cushy gig in Congress and the chance to be the leader of the Free World for calling someone a nikka 20 years ago, shouldn’t Washington lose his acting gig for calling somebody a phag last fall?
What astounds me MOST about what is alleged to have occurred is how Washington would DARE– even in a fit of blind rage - to openly call someone a phag on a HOLLYWOOD set. I mean, you’d think he’d HAVE to know that in largely FLAMING La La Land that’s near-tantamount to committing professional hari kari.
I predict Washington will be canned very soon (though ABC’s and Grey’s producers will smartly try to give him enuff dough to buy his silence). And then they’ll replace him with another handsome Black actor whose gender politics they find more palatable.
I wonder what’s Blair Underwood or Michael Beach been up to lately. |

Grey's Anatomy production can fire whomever they like. But if IW is fired it won't be for the comments he made last October, it will be for the comments he made a couple of nights ago at the GoldenGlobeAwards.
And Michael Beach is NOT handsome. Sorry.

You may already know that Washington has since admitted to and apologized for using (you heard it HERE first, foks) the dreaded f-word. And he's even going the perfunctory route of meeting with meeting with gay rights activist group GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) to attempt to lend credence to his (sincere?) mia culpa.
I guess the prospects of potentially losing MILLIONS in future Grey's Anatomy salary, syndication and appearance fees got the better of Washington's prejudice.
'Course, it still wouldn't surprise me if Washington's character is, purely for creative reasons, written off the show. |

I intentionally mispell swear words here. By doing such, I can convey the intended sentiment sans littering the Board with profanity that might get caught up in MYRIAD, possibily PERMANENT Internet searches and caches (some of which might be perused by children). |
