China’s recent successful attempt to shoot down a satellite with a missile may foretell their future ambitions. Those ambitions may be to invade the U.S. territories Guam and the Marianna Islands, the state of Hawaii, and to entrench itself in South America and the weak Latin regimes. IMO, the U.S. had better look over its shoulder, or things might get ugly down the line. |

China won't be able to successfully colonize, even if they do invade. The Chinese have NOT learned how to ingratiate themselves with other people than themselves, and certainly not with non-Asians. I can see an imminent Chinese invasion falling on its ass after say 10-15 years. The Europeans were far more devious, making friends here, enemies there, false friends, false enemies, etc., etc. They were able to deceive in ways that the Chinese simply can't, or won't. This is why I'm ultimately not worried about China. |

Let me school you guys--
First some history--
In 1900 Great Britain had the most powerful empire. It had, as competitors, the French, Russian and Austrian Empires.
Coming up to challenge these four empires, and competing against each other, were the Germans, Japanese, Italians and the USA.
When all the dust settled in about 1989 the U.S. was number one. Most powerful Empire in History.
But the world has not accepted this--do they ever?
Coming up in this century the U.S. will face challenges from the Chinese and the Indians--screw all that talk about it being another democracy and democracies don't fight each other. In 1914 the rulers of Britain Germany and Russia were all related and that didn't stop nothing.
They are going to fight over the oil, which the U.S. is currently trying to sieze control of.
This also puts the U.S. at odds with some so called allies, The European Union and Japan, which chafe at the idea of somebody else having control over this vital strategic commodity (remember Japan attacked the U.S. when the U.S. introduced an oil embargo on Japan in 1940).
Then there is Russia an old enemy who has its own oil and has got back off the canvas and is mad as hell because the U.S. tried to screw them when they were down in the 90's.
We don't even have to talk about the menace of a new Muslim Oil Caliphate, a South American coalition against the gringo, or restive sub Saharan Africans.
But let us get back to the Chinese arms test.
This is the fault of your big talking Big mouth POTUS.
Remember a little while ago when he pushed work on Star Wars and declared our rights to use space for military purposes?
Probably not because the media is not talking about it.
The Chinese showed his ass that two, and more likely several others (The Russians, the Europeans, the Indians and soon the Brazilians the Nigerians and the Iranians) can play this game.
He's got a big mouth and all our asses are going to have to cash checks he wrote with it. |

Is chrishayden's "lesson" supposed to be a big revelation??? All the pundits have been saying that China is ready to make its move on the world chess board. That's why Bush paid a visit to China to shore up the trade agreements that both countries benefit so much from. I thought Shakspir's analysis was much more insightful because it dealt with the "inscrutable oriental mind" that has for centuries both benefited and handicapped China. That's relevant. |

I'd heard that China wanted to sign a new comprehensive space treaty, but the Bush administration refused. I couldn't corroborate that, but . . .according to the links below, the Chinese have been concerned by our space plans for over 5 years. In 2003 the 'Pentagon announced its intention to pursue a testbed for space-based missile defenses by 2008.'
A ""January 2001 report of the Commission to Assess United States National Security Space Management and Organization, chaired by Donald Rumsfeld shortly before he became Secretary of Defense. Although the report stresses defensive space operations, it endorses also the notion of "space control" and specifically calls for anti-satellite technology, stating that "The U.S. will require means of negating satellite threats, whether temporary and reversible or physically destructive." So this is some of that 'reap what you sow' BS. How long will it take to get the stink of this administration out of the 'air'!!!!

Having worked for the Dept of Army for over 20 years, part of that time served on the free world's largest military reservation (White Sands Missile Range), and having associates who work directly with some of the military's missile programs, it's my observation that if the U.S. tried to hit one of its satellites they would have surely missed. They can't even hit a moving target in the lower atmosphere.
I think it's scary that the Chinese are much more advanced than the U.S. and also that the U.S. is so heavily indebted to the Chinese. China could run us anytime they choose.
