Oh..Robin won an award for best comic, and when he went on stage to accept, he hugged and ran his hands all over Halle's body and butt. I could see her discomfort but she did nothing. She should have slapped the shyet out his azz. It was disrespectful.

I see. I've stated before that people treat you the way that you allow yourself to be treated. And that goes for Halle as well. She must have set herself up to accept this sort of behavior a long time ago because I heard that someone else has done something similar (kissed her or fondled her at an awards show or something).
I don't know the reason for this but my guess would be that she has laid up with so many people in HoWood, that Halle doesn't elicit much respect from the white people there. The Black people either.
Halle's considered a ho. A pretty ho, but a ho nonetheless. Robin Williams acts crazy but he wouldn't have dared to lay his hands on her if he thought she was respectable.
The truth hurts. Sorry. Now, on to the Oprah thread.

Had Halle let it be known she did NOT appreciate Adrian Brody slobbing her down at the Oscars a few years ago, she probably wouldn't be the butt of the kind of stunts Robin Williams pulled.
And, really. Unless you're a professional comedian (or a masochist), you probably have NO business sharing a stage with Robin Williams. That shyt can be pretty dayam HAZARDOUS. |

I think Halle Berry likes this kind of attention as like other beautiful women in Hollywood she is probably insecure and enjoys these images of white men conveying that she is "the goddess" and such.
I'm certain that many white actresses attending the Oscars and People's Choice ceremonies would have killed to have been the world televised objects of such public expressions of "desire".
It also sends the message to major magazines and other powerful white venues that she is "acceptable".
I remember seeing Diana Ross on the Johnny Carson show and similar touching, groping by both Carson and Ryan O'Neal (who was her boyfriend) and like Halle Berry she seemed to pretend it wasn't happening. I think she wanted white women to see.
It's not the real world on that stage.

These black women targeted with these "gropings" like Halle Berry and Diana Ross don't see race involved.
They see that they are being treated as Marilyn Monroe and have been treated, and even though Gloria Steinem wrote entire books complaining about those white women being groped, these "type" of black women celebrities who transcend race are desperate for that kind of affirmation.
They don't see the racial politics as someone like Angela Bassett would.
That is just Nafisa's opinion, however, I could be very wrong. |

I admit that's just my opinion as I've accused Kola (who I work with in real life) of the same thing.
Again, I think black women who don't see themselves as a "color", the Halles and Dianas see themselves as in competition with the top white female stars and act accordingly, which makes this behavior acceptable.
Even Ross herself said that she never understood why the black community always compared her to Aretha Franklin and Patti Labelle when her competition was actually Helen Reddy, Olivia Newton John and Dionne Warwick.
Do get what I'm saying? These women aren't concerned with race as an issue. Halle Berry wants to be seen as this generation's Elizabeth Taylor and being pawed by a "Best Actor" winner affirms her as that.

In Hollywood you just never know.

I have often teased Kola Boof about the same thing regarding her breast photos.
We are close like sisters, so I feel I can tell her the truth and I just don't believe that she does that for cultural reasons.
It's the same to me as Halle, Janet and Ross's little "snafus". These women in the limelight will do anything to compete for more lime and more light. I always tell Kola--she's too concerned with her looks and image to be posing topless because it's some noble "tradition".

Publicly showing her indignation by pushing Robin away or slapping him, whether right or wrong, would've given the impression that Halle was a prudish, poor sport. Robin Williams ended up looking like a lecherous jerk pawing a defenseless woman. And the longer he stood on stage doing his unfunny schtick, the more of a fool he showed himself to be. |
