A journalist friend of mine is writing a story on the "mainstreaming" of sadomasochism in popular music and asked me if black folks find S&M (sexual domination and humiliation) "offensive." Like I can speak for all black folks, right? Anyway, the whole idea makes my stomach turn, but I am from a different generation and listen to mostly R&B.
Is this kind of behavior acceptable these days? Are folks bragging about it in hip hop? White folks have been into S&M for years. |

I don't think that many Black people are into S&M. Being tied up, beaten and urinated on is too reminiscent of slavery times. But that's just what I think about it.

Black people tend to be very tradional in their sex practices, always wanting to relegate freaky things to white folks. I have always thought I'd make a good domantrix, however. The idea of donning black hip-boots and net stockings, and carrying a whip and wearing a studded dog collar and a skin-tight leather body suit always appealed me. LMAO. |

Lots of black people are into S & M. The slavery thing makes them even more into it--that is lots of them have come down to mix affection and sexual desire with brutal domination and pain.
