Learn as much as you can about your opponent
before the match begins. Never doubt that your
opponent is learning about you.

The Qualities of Chess Masters # 124

March 31, 6:00 A.M. The call came just before sunrise. The Hunter was still asleep, but the Tupac How Do You Want It ring tone from his cell phone was like a rooster on a country farm. He bolted up from the bed and reached for the phone in the dark bedroom.

Instead of his phone, his hand bumped into soft skin. It was a woman’s back. He shook his head and tried to catch his bearings. He squinted as his eyes adjusted to the darkness. He heard a faint voice saying hello in a feminine tone. He reached out again, slightly pushing the woman in front of him.

“Give me the phone,” he said sternly as he gave her another push for emphasis.

“Uh, hold on,” the woman said softly as she turned toward him.

He thought about warning her against answering his phone until her soft hair brushed his face. A soft and satisfying scent filled his nose. He recalled her name, Candy. Sweet and supple. She melted in his mouth and in his hands. Memories of their night together started to replay in his mind. He groaned inwardly.

“You don’t have to be rude about it,” Candy said before smacking her lips. He heard a slight thump and felt a wisp of air as the phone dropped in front of his face.

He reached for the phone and held it to his ear. “Yeah,” he spoke into the phone. His voice was shaky, evidence of his previous unconscious state.

"Sounds like your hands have been in the cookie jar,” A male voice with a James Earl Jones baritone said.

“My business is my own,” the Hunter responded gruffly.

Laughter emanated from the phone. “Hey, whatever floats your boat,” the baritone said. “But I just need to know if you’re ready.”

“Ready for what?” the Hunter asked as he gripped the phone tighter.

Just as the baritone voice started speaking again, Candy broke the Hunter’s concentration by mumbling something about going to the bathroom. She pushed the bed covers over his body. The bed moved slightly as Candy got out of the bed. He tried to study her curves, but his eyes hadn’t adjusted fully in the darkness and Candy’s body looked like a shadow. The baritone had stopped speaking by the time his attention returned to the phone.

“What did you say?” the Hunter asked, pushing the covers down to his waist.

“It’s time to step on the Brown Recluse,” the baritone said. “You’ve got one hundred thousand reasons to make it happen fast.”

He couldn’t believe his ears. “What?” he asked, his voice rising slightly as he spoke into the phone.

“I won’t repeat myself again,” the baritone responded. “You have twenty-four hours.”

“Are you sure?” he asked as he shook his head in an attempt to clear the fogginess of sleep. His voice flowed with pure disbelief.

Silence was the only reply, the man had already ended the phone call.

The Hunter lay in the bed for a couple of minutes, holding the phone to his ear. It’s time to step on the Brown Recluse, the words played in his head. He had every reason to believe he was dreaming. The Recluse had been protected for a long time. No one could even look at her for too long for fear of some type of retribution. Named after the poisonous spider that embodied her personality, she was the ultimate death dealer, but now, her time was up.

He placed the phone back on the nightstand and looked toward the large window near the door. His eyes had fully adjusted to the dark and he could see the 40 Winks Motel sign just outside the window. It was still night, but he knew the sun would rise soon. He had twenty-four hours, so he had to start planning right away.

He switched on the lamp on the nightstand and squinted as the light filled the room. It was time to focus. He put his hands on the back of his head and pondered how the Recluse had fucked up. It must have been a pretty bad deal. Now he had the chance to offer her head on a platter, and he couldn’t wait.

The thought of taking her out excited him in every way. He didn’t know how he would do it, she would definitely be a challenge. She wouldn’t go down without a fight. The Recluse had been the cause of many of what the media and cops called “drug-related” deaths. He wondered how the newspapers would write her eulogy.

He had studied her from a distance for so long, waiting for the moment he received the call to take her out. The huntress was now the hunted, and he wouldn’t disappoint. His dick was throbbing now, as he thought of taking the Recluse’s life. He heard a click behind the door on the far side of the motel room. The door handle turned. He reached instinctively for his piece but withdrew his hand as he remembered. Candy. The exotic dancer. Sweet and supple. In the thrilling moments after the phone call, he had almost forgotten her.

Candy opened the door to the bathroom and started to walk fluidly toward the bed. Her naked body was a sight to behold. Her long straight dark hair swayed over her large breasts, which giggled each time she took a step. He thanked God for the light as his eyes traveled down pass her taunt flat stomach. His gaze lingered at the valley between her creamy brown toned thighs.

“Damn, baby, I can see you’re ready for some more of this sweet stuff,” Candy purred as she stared at his arousal underneath the bed sheet. She looked at him and smiled. Her almond-shaped dark brown eyes could make a man forget his troubles.

The Hunter didn’t argue as Candy pulled the sheet off of his body and joined him on the bed. She stared as his arousal and then looked him in the eyes again, licking her lips seductively as she moved closer to him. He groaned as she took him into her mouth. He felt himself swelling, getting harder. He groaned again and grabbed her head, guiding her up and down as she devoured him. She took every inch of him and held him deep in her throat. Candy was a master of oral gratification and the sensations she was giving him were almost overwhelming.

As the Hunter closed his eyes and his mind began to let go, the Recluse drifted back into his mind. He wanted the physical contact with her, to feel her last heartbeat and her last breath. He imagined her eyes as she looked at him and realized her fate, witnessing her own death in his eyes.

He reached down and pulled Candy’s mouth off of him. He grabbed her shoulders and pushed her down on the bed. He spread her legs and entered her, thrusting forcibly and rejoicing in the screams rising beneath him. He imagined the Recluse, bending to his will and his desires. He thrust harder, moved faster, as he thought of choking the life out of her.

The Hunter imagined the Recluse as the body struggled beneath him, fighting him. He heard the screams surround him, felt the heat rising in him, the fingers clawing at his back and the body thrashing underneath him. He heard his own ragged screams as his body released its lust.

He inhaled deeply as he opened his eyes. He gasped as reality came thundering back into his brain. His hands were wrapped around Candy’s neck, and she was staring at him, her eyes wild and wide with fear. Her mouth was open slightly. He rolled off of her and stared. She didn’t move. He wanted to reach out and touch her, to ask her if she was okay, but he hesitated. He didn’t know if he would like the response.

The Hunter’s chest tightened as he began to ponder what to do with Candy, but then something caught his eye. Candy’s breasts were moving. She was breathing. He closed his eyes and exhaled, feeling a deep sense of relief. Then his head snapped back and he felt his right cheek sting. He opened his eyes and reached out in time to stop Candy from striking him again.

“What the fuck is wrong with you?” Candy yelled out as she struggled against him. Her voice was strained.

“Calm down,” he said as he pushed her arms to the side of her body.

“What do mean, calm down? You’re fucking trying to kill me!” Candy shook her head and tried to kick him.

He thought quickly about a way to diffuse the situation. Candy was glaring at him with murder on her mind. “Look, baby, I’m sorry. I just got a little rough, that’s all.”

“A little?” Candy spat out.

The Hunter released her hands and started caressing her arms. He looked her directly in the eyes. “C’mon, baby,” he pleaded, “you know I wouldn’t hurt you intentionally. You just made me want you so bad, I just couldn’t stop myself.”

Candy’s eyes softened. “You hurt me, almost choked me to death.” She coughed softly as she reached for her neck.

His hands followed Candy’s own, and he touched her neck gently. His fingers traced the welts forming around her neck. He leaned forward and kissed her neck, using his tongue to sooth her discomfort. Her throat hummed as she moaned.

“I’m sorry,” he mumbled against her neck. “It won’t happen again.”

“Apology accepted,” Candy said, moving closer to him.

“Let me make it up to you,” he said as he began to pleasure her to ease her further. He massaged her gently, kissed her softly, and stroked her core with his tongue until she shivered beneath him. By the time Candy reached her peak, the sun was shining through the window. As she basked in the glow of the ultimate pleasure, he excused himself from the bed and went to the bathroom.

As the Hunter leaned against the bathroom sink and turned on the faucet, his thoughts returned to the Brown Recluse—Sola Nichols. He had needed to relieve his sexual tension, but his zeal had cost him precious time. He splashed the water on his face, letting the cool water cleanse his senses. He had to have a clear head before he went to work. One hundred thousand reasons to make it happen fast, and he only needed one. He would have offered to take the Recluse out for free just for the memory of watching her die.
