Pop idol finalist says judge coached him for sex favours

AMERICAN IDOL, the most popular television show in the United States, was embroiled in scandal yesterday amid allegations that one of its judges, the singer, dancer and choreographer Paula Abdul, helped a contestant nearly half her age in exchange for sex.
In an interview scheduled to be broadcast last night, Corey Clark, a former finalist in the talent contest, claimed that Abdul had coached him privately, found him a hair stylist and gave him money for expensive clothes.
Despite her alleged help, Clark was kicked off the show during its second season because he had concealed an arrest for assaulting his teenage sister.
Abdul even “got my hair cut for me”, Clark alleges in the interview with ABC, a rival of Fox, the network that produces American Idol.
Clark, who is writing a book and recording his first album, said that Abdul had also helped him to choose songs. “She was opening my eyes to like: ‘Look, you sing this stuff. This is how you’re going to get through’, ” he said.
Their relationship, at a time when he was 22 and she was 40, was initially platonic but became sexual, according to ABC. “I want to look out after you like I’m your Mom,” she allegedly told him. Later she said: “Well, more like your sister.”
Clark said: “And I was like, ‘OK, cool, cool, cool’. ” She is alleged to have added: “Well, maybe more like your special friend.”
Clark said that he believed Abdul was “polishing that dust off the dirty diamond and helping me shine a little bit”. His parents supported the allegations, saying that she had called their home to speak to him during the competition.
ABC said that it would play a recorded phone message from Abdul in which she begged Clark not to talk about her or publish his memoirs.
Abdul, whose lawyer tried to prevent the interview being aired, said that she would not “dignify the false statements” with a response. American Idol’s producers and Fox said that they would look into any evidence of improper conduct, but noted that Clark had never raised concerns with them. American Idol, which attracts 28 million viewers, suggested that the public should “carefully examine” Clark’s motives.
Abdul’s representative issued a statement saying: “He is communicating lies about Paula Abdul in order to generate interest in a book deal.”
In the show Abdul distinguishes herself from fellow judges such as Simon Cowell, famed for his acid remarks, by always having something nice to say about everyone and occasionally weeping when a strong performer is voted off by viewers, who have the final say.
Her erratic behaviour on the show came under scrutiny recently, prompting her to publicly deny that she was on drugs and attribute her actions to a history of back problems, which cause her great pain.

I thought awhile before sending this post but considering all, I just had to. I thought of many ways to express my opinion but the only thing that fits is Corey Clark is a H$% A%^ N&%$a.
I listened closely to Corey's claims and it became clear to me that assuming that his no-good ass is telling the truth, Paula only tried to help him. Arguments about fairness of competition aside(which are ridiculous since noone has ever witnessed a fair competition in their life), what has this woman done wrong?
The only fault I see in Paula is that she obviously has extremely poor judgement when it comes to men.

I tend to think Paula saw something in him and wanted him to perform well. So she gave him a little bit of boost.
I don't think though that boost occurred in the backseat of her limo.
However, she often seem emotionally unhinged.
So although I doubt she boned dude. I do think there may have been more of an emotional exchange between them than what the owners/producer of "American Idol" would prefer. |

I don't see what she did wrong....and I also don't believe his story about sex.
I think PAULA would have access to far more men away from the show---young studly boy toys abound out here---and to me, Corey Clark isn't even cute.
He's too thin, funky looking, confused acting, weak.

Yeah, you guys probably think OJ was innocent, and that MJ is being framed. I believe what Corey Clarke said, and I also think what Paua did was unfair to the other contestants. Having said, that I would simply add her actions are the "name of the game" in La-La Land. How do you think the phrase "casting couch" originated? Paula should'nt have appeared in public with Corey and made all of those incriminating phone calls. Then, she'd have a better case against her boy-toy. But, this will soon be yesterday's news and American idol will survive.
BTW, on this board I will now be known as "Cynnique" instead of "Cynique" since that's the only way I can prevent my profile from being available. |

What does desperation have to do with anything? Maybe a woman in her position would enjoy the power rush of demanding sexual favors in exchange for some additional edge. Whatever. More power to her for (allegedly) doing what men have been doing from day one.
Of course AI will survive--or, if it doesn't it won't be because of this. If anything, the producers will see this as the Next Big Thing and spin off a new reality show: "Who will offer to do the most outrageous thing to become a star?"

I think there was considerably MORE evidence revealed that inculpated OJ than that’s which proves Paula’s guilt. But if Corey can produce some soiled undergarments that provide some clear-cut DNA evidence, let me know.

I still say.....
I'm DEFINITE that Paula gets her share of handsome studly young pussyfuckers-----this area is LOADED with them, and a woman of her position could get them FREE.
Which is exactly why I do not believe she took Corey Clark's whiney, faded looking self and did HIM.
I think that's his FANTASY.
I just don't see Paula being that DUMB.
I mean come on----there's an ETTIQUETTE about how to be with "boy toys", especially when you're famous and have dealt with P.R. people for YEARS and YEARS...as she has.
And I really do believe that Paula is a sweet, kind generous person who would HELP out sincerely----she was that way with the Jacksons and many others.
I just don't buy his story.

There's a 18 year old hunky black boy around these parts whose constantly trying to get in my drawers (he's been flirting--aggressively--- since he was 17).
He plays basketball and sells weed around here. He is GORGEOUS, I won't deny.
He's already fucked two 40 year old married white women in my area (several times each) and the word is.....he's strapp'n and he tears it up good.
STILL...I just can't help but feel NAUSEA at the idea that a 18 year old boy is trying to lay pipe up in my house. It's obscene!!!
I actually wanted to slap him last summer when he came walking up to my porch talking about he wanted to start taking my sons to shoot hoops and spend time with them.
WHY?????
And he's so LAME. He says to me one day, "You sure you old enough to be those boy's mother??"
My sons are only 7 and 5.
I told his smug ass, "Ah, no...but I'm SURE I'm old enough to be YOUR mother."
I can't believe these 40-plus women out here are letting him HIT like it's nothing. And these women are MARRIED. In fact one of them is married to a Black man and has managed to FUCK 2 of her teenaged son's friends and had to call the cops two years ago because her hubby found out she did one of his buddies---he beat her ass and she called the cops. What is with that shit???
And you should see this 18 year old's car. I know one of these dumb bitches is paying the note.

I know foks in the music biz who have carried on as you describe for years.
One musician I know found out some some 17 year old guy was piledriving his wife when he confronted dude on the streets while she was fool enough to let dude sport her husband's Ferrari.
He later found out she and her 30-something girlfriends were hosting orgies with high school basketball players.

I would do a 22 year old, if he was MATURE and knew how to talk about the world that young----well, maybe I wouldn't, I'm not sure.
But 18....ugh!
Men can still fuck pretty good and pretty reliably from 28-38. And truth be told, when I was in my 20's and was WILD with a capital "P"......I had men in their mid-40's and even one 63 year old guy hit me so hard I couldn't walk for days.
It's really how you turn them on.

Well, Corey says he didn't choose Paula, she chose him. She took him under her wing and he was too weak to resist. This guy is from Nashville Tennessee, and is not some Hollywood giggolo. The whole thing is really turning into a comedy of errors. He has obviously made a big mistake by being someone who kisses and tells, and she made a mistake by throwing caution to the wind when it came to engaging someone for stud services. It came back to bite her in the butt, so to speak. And, frankly, I find this guy with his lean, lithe, serpentine look to be rather intriguing, if not sexy. But, not to worry. Paula's popularity will prevail and his career is probably ended before it started. |

Don't know what the ratings were like, but must-see-TV last night was ABC's Primetime Live expose on Paula Abdul. Here was this kid, Corey Clark, claiming that he had slept with Paula Abdul and she coached him during last season's American Idol. That's enough to scuff up her too sweet image, and possibly enough for there to be a job opening for an American Idol judge in the near future.
The most surprising thing was that Corey Clark seemed to be telling the truth. With Paula Abdul threatening to sue ABC if they aired the special, and them deciding to air it anyway, that should have been a clue that this kid had some weighty evidence behind his allegations. Yeah, I believed him.
You hear him tell the story of someone slipping him a phone number after he serenaded her during his performance. Then how he calls her and she sends a car for him. Fine. That's not really evidence, but when they showed the Sprint cellphone records with calls from a phone that he says was just to talk between the two of them. That's something that can easily be checked. Find out who the phone was registered to and bought by whom. That's got to be in the database. Even if it was bought by an assistant, follow the bread crumbs.
Then there was the music that she supposedly picked out for him. He said Paula suggested using a song that Randy Jackson played on with the rock group Journey. I believed this was true when they showed the clip of the Idol show when he performed this song. At the end, Paula Abdul stood up and clapped, saying it was a great choice and then said it was great because Randy Jackson played on it. After she says this, she asked him if he knew that. He said no, but he was looking at her like he couldn't believe that she was acting like they hadn't talked about it.
You know, lying in front of everybody and acting new. Then there was the cough medicine with her name on the label. Don't know where he would get that from; again, the record of the purchase should be there.
And of course there was the voicemail that everyone throws alleged in front of for technical purposes. But unless Corey's Mom got her impersonation thing on, that's Paula Abdul, and the kind of evidence that would make ABC comfortable defending any lawsuit from Paula Abdul.
Those were the four big things. Throw in little stuff like him being able to name her three dogs, the fact that he said they always stayed in the guest room. Like if he was going to straight up lie about the whole thing, why not say he was in her bedroom? And even though he never got into details about hitting it from the back or anything.. he had the demeanor of a guy telling the truth.
The big question is why the hell did he do all of this?
Paula Abdul is giving him everything: advice on songs and dress, buying him clothes, getting his hair cut in that bushy weedwacker style. He's dipping to her house in the wee hours of the night, in the Jacuzzi watching videos, hitting it. This 22-year-old kid from nowhere city is sleeping with a music idol. Maybe not an idol, but she was huge for her fifteen minutes and still looks good. She's got cash and he's getting all of this with one note attached, "Keep Your Mouth Shut."
No. Bitch boy gets on TV talking about he wanted to clean up his life, and unfortunately she was part of it so her dirt gets swept into full view. That's total and complete bullshit! If he was so concerned about doing the right thing because he felt he cheated the other contestants, then he would have answered the question about how he thought the other contestants would feel or what he would say to them if they knew a little better. Instead he was smiling like, hey that's their problem. Don't hate the playa.
He would have been better going with the story of her breaking his heart. After news of his arrest record got him kicked off American Idol, Corey says the cellphone stopped ringing. No more calls. No more late night rendezvous. No more nothing. Boo hoo, the fuck Hoo.
Hey genius, ever think that your petty crime revelation which included forging checks had anything to do with her staying far away from you? Here she is doing something that she shouldn't have been doing in the first place, and you turn up on smoking gun's mugshot chart. Please, it's cutoff time buddy.
Instead of enjoying the experience for what it was. He puts her career in jeopardy with a bullshit book proposal and this special. That's a great way to thank her for all the help he admits she gave him. Then this morning he's on Good Morning America acting surprised that people are upset with him, and repeating that he didn't mean any harm to Paula, he was just trying to clean up his life. What you won't see is him slumping in the chair towards the end, feeling the pressure from the backlash. What's crazier is that his parents are sitting there nodding along, didn't they ever think that this was a dumb idea? Guess not.
Hey, doesn't he look like Swizz Beatz? Once he finds that his music career will never get started, he can go into the impersonation business. The special guest at the club, him and his buddy can get in VIP as Cassidy and Swizzy.
