When foks start proudly waving in your face a flag in one hand and King James’ Bible in the other, perhaps you should ask them which of the two do they abide by…because in truth ‘the twain does not necessarily meet’.
What’s most unfortunate about all the Bible-thumping that right-wingers use to control, frighten and woo millions of Americans is that they patently LIE and MISLEAD about the degree to which “GOD” – and especially Christianity – was ever included in the founding and construction of the United States of America. When one looks past all the rhetoric, demagoguery and propaganda…and READ…you’ll discover that America is very much a ‘Godless’ Country.
Consider the following:
The US Constitution does not mention the word “God”. In fact, when the subject of “God” was considered during the scripting of the Constitution, Alexander Hamilton – the father and architect of America’s indomitable business system - quipped America was not in need of “foreign aid”.
The Declaration of Independence refers to the concept “God” in only the most vague of terms: “…Laws of Nature and Natures’ God…” and “…endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights…” And Thomas Jefferson the author of the Declaration’ endeavored to erect “a wall of separation between Church and state.”
The phrase “In God We Trust” didn’t appear on US currency until the Civil War (almost 100 years AFTER the scripting of the Declaration of Independence). Also, “one nation under God” didn’t appear in the U.S. national anthem until the 1950’s (ironically, during America’s sinister Communist witch-hunt McCarthy era).
And NONE of these seminal American texts/media credit “Jesus Christ” (or, to be fair, Jehovah, Allah, Muhammad, Buddha, Zeus, Odin, Vashti and/or assorted other deities/prophets). In fact, an 18th Century treaty between America and Tripoli specifically states, “…the Government of the United States is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion”.
And important founding fathers George Washington, Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, James Madison and Thomas Paine were NOT Christian per se. They believed in a higher power. But they were highly suspicious of the notion of a Holy Trinity.
Franklin said just weeks before his death that although he admired the teachings of Jesus, he was unsure whether he felt Jesus was divine. Jefferson’s reputed to have predicted there will come a time when the virgin birth of Christ will have all the veracity of the pagan lightening god Zeus giving birth to Athena from his head.
And Paine was such a vocal polemist of the Church, especially Christianity, that many of the other founders would later disassociate from him for fear that their relationship with Paine might compromise their economic/political interests.
I did NOT post this with the expressed intention of fracturing anyone’s heartfelt notions of “…GOD and Country”. I applaud any faith that promotes the physical, mental and ‘spiritual’ welfare of us all, both on an individual and collective basis’s. Nor do I suggest anyone mirror the belief criteria of the American founders.
But it would serve all Americans – the devout, agnostic and atheist alike – to know the truth about whether and to what degree we should invoke “GOD” (whom/whatever he/she be to you) in the matters of our shared governance and mutual wellbeing. Otherwise, we may continue to empower “false prophets” to lead us ALL to “H*ll”. |

Me personally---
I just wish we could call JESUS by one of his African Semetic names, like in my country...."Cissa Yaweh" (Our Son Jesus, the King)
I hate using that Latin-Bolshevic name.
Wish we could understand that the CUSHITE language is the very first HEBREW language...and that the Falasha are the first/original HEBREW tribe.
BOTH the Egyptians AND their slaves were in BLACK people.
In America...I find it so disgusting to see the false images WHITENED, that's why I don't go to church....I hold church at the river and stay away from MEN's religions (meaning--WHITE religion).

Well, ABM. It DOES matter what color JESUS is if you want MY children to raise his image above their own and to worship him and kiss his feet.
IN GREECE...the Southern parts....when the people line up after church to kiss the Virgin Mary's feet....her feet are STILL "black".
As a consequence, a black woman traveling in Southern Greece will find herself ASTONISHED at the affection and praise the people have for her....for seemingly no reason at all. The idolization.
This is why.....the GREEKS have recently began fighting to change the Virgin to an OLIVE coloring.
But the old people, because of TRADITION, want her to remain black.
Yes, it matters, regardless of whether these figures are real or not.
I want MY SONS to be surrounded by images of their own greatness and beauty---and to be shown images of THEIR BLACKNESS coming to the rescue and assistance of other races, who in my artwork are portrayed as Less Fortunate and Needy.

ABM, perhaps you should stop making plans and worrying about tomorrow and let God. If only you knew how he works you would invite Him more into the USA. And what am I saying, no one has to invite Him, He is the owner of this country. And I believe in His son Jesus Christ.
Jesus is so high above all because He has witnesses to back up His stories. I never hear about Mohamed in America... But see, this is why Jesus is the truth. And like He said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life!!" What exactly did Mohamed or any other religious figure like Buda say? I believe in ONE God. Although others will argue there is more than one, but I believe them, because the God I believe in is above all the gods and mankind. He is simply the creator of the world, so can nobody deny His highness because He owns all of us.
I do not believes in the drawings of Jesus and the pictures people come up with. Who cares if He was black or white. The bible says He came down in the image of man. Jesus's father was a Jewish carpenter. So as you can see God admired a Jew and brought him His son. Jesus is the savior of the world. Yes He got crucified and till today even after He rose from the dead and gone onto Heaven people still continue to crusify Him. Of course that is the devil's work in people who believe there is no God; and those are the people who live miserable lives on earth. I don't think anything is ever possible unless God is involved. Even though I don't see Him, I have faith He exists. I always say, there has to be a God for the ones ignored, the refugees. All the evilness belong somewhere and it gota go there and the good people gota go somewhere as well.
Someone on here believed in the quote: "Christianity isn't the problem, Christians are". And well, I have no problem believing this line because Christians are the problem not the God they believe in. The same applies to Islamic. Muslims are the problem and not the God they believe in as well. I believe both Christians and Muslims believe in the same God, just different concepts. But see, I don't know about that Mohammed that is why I am Christian. And like I said up there, Jesus is so real because He has witnesses and many many proves. And as well as to many other religions, this quote applies. Remember God didn't choose a Christian to be Jesus's father. Joseph was just any living creature on earth with good morals. He picked the virgin Mary because she acquired good morals and was clean. I'm sure that if God had to have another son be born today, He would choose a true Christ's follower. He would choose the people that please Him the most through His son Jesus Christ.
Christians are not perfect nor are Muslims. However, there once lived on earth perfection, the son of God, Jesus Christ. And I am Christian because I follow Him, but at the same time I am not perfect. Not all Christians will go to heaven. God will not punish anyone who didn't know about Christianity and His son. But ABM, if you know about Jesus Christ, I will ask you to follow his teachings because they are the truth. He was not only man, He was the son of God. But see, this is why Christians press their religion because it is so powerful, because Jesus lives in Christianity. And time and time again, people find their own ways and not His way. All we have to do is follow Him and say His prayer, yet mankind continues to find a way to erase Him. Man is confused in trying to discover not only the "true" Christianity, but the true religion. Who's to say that I am right and that is why I only believe in the son of God and God Himself.
Christ took people's breath away when He lived on earth 2,000 or so years ago. Now He rose and went to Heaven and He promised He would be back for His followers. Now 2,000 years is many many years for humans, but for God, Jesus is probably only unpacking in heaven, lol.
ABM, God created America, therefore, God will remain and watch the American soil whether you like it or not. They may have not included Him in their little written constitution for the country, but He exists in every piece of paper on earth. And He will rip every piece of paper that denies Him because He is God.
The simple message that Jesus Christ left for us on earth is all we need to know and believe in. The Bible and the commandments is many answers to our problems. All we have to do is live morally and most importantly believing in God.
I believe God mysteriously comes to America and that is why every time there's a destruction people do nothing but turn to Him. Seeeee, something EVIL had to take place for God to be called upon, and why not! WE ALL NEED GOD ABM, all things are posibble and we are safer with Him. There is a story of a young girl. A gun was pointed onto her head and was asked, "Do you believe in God?" And if she answered "Yes" she was to be shot. And she did say YES! And I hope that we would all say yes no matter what. God should be in our souls. I honestly don't know how people go on without Him because I can't. I am too weak to live without Him. The devil is everywhere to live without Him. I could die any day and I would like Him there in my heart till my last day on earth as well as with my generation and all the people of the world. After 9/11, people started to pray again.
Those presidents you mentioned may have said those things against God, but aren't we all human beings and we don't have to follow the those founders of America. They will be judged like any other human being regardless of their status. God can care less about the name, "father of America" They may have started the country, but God will start another America. He will apoint His own leader. He has the power to move everything around whether you like it or not. I know that He will not allow His name to be erased in America. If that is the case, then really He will judge over and over, and when He cannot take all the evilness, He will start a fire. It is possible that He will get people to vote for a Godly leader and as you can tell, Bush did win and He strongly believes in God. I don't like him for the war in Iraq, but I also admire His strong believe in God.
All people will have all the answers to their questions when they finally believe in God. Still, God loves all of us and He will be here for us and continue to help us find Him. |

I never told ANYBODY to walk around topless in America---you certainly don't see ME doing it.
What I said is that you can't truly appreciate BLACK WOMEN's cultural identity if you're not willing to embrace and celebrate ALL OF IT. And nothing symbolizes the cultural identity of Black Women (ALL black women originating from Africa) than bare breasts---which are the symbol of the circle of life itself and are bared in honor of the Creator and is truly African.

People are misunderstanding what I'm saying.
I'm not saying go topless. I'm saying lets HONOR and CLAIM our mother's true image and sacred identity and be PROUD instead of rebukeful, because our REAL culture is IN THE SUN with our real hair, dark skin and naked bodies.
White people come from COLD land, insecure about their body parts and their pale ruddy skin. They created CLOTHING to asuage their insecurity......and we Africans ALWAYS had clothing to protect private areas or for special ceremonies. But we are natural people and our bodies were always beautiful and fully lived in, because of how we believed in the spirit.

ABM,
I live on a sprawling ranch and have access to a lake (that I call a river, because there's a creek attached) where I take my sons to "pray", at which time, I bare my breasts, pray, sing to my sons and, occasionally, baptize them.
Also, on nights when it's a FULL MOON, I go out walking in the woods completely naked (I carry a pistol with me), but I haven't done that in a while, because they caught a Mountain Lion up here a months weeks ago and a Tiger (yes, a TIGER that got loose) just 10 days ago.
CERTAINLY...I would not expect other women to do this, because they don't have space or seclusion like I do. Of course, in Africa, it's much easier and TOTALLY SAFE to do these things.
I'm not suggesting anybody do what I do---just saying that it's WRONG for black people to put me down and "demonize" me just because they're former slaves and no longer remember me. Shit.

I think that I must someday face the fact that I don't belong and that I should move out of the country and become a recluse.

You provoke many "urgent" topics. So there SHOULD be a sense of hurriedness about your delivery. I think, though, you expect instantaneous understanding/reconcilation for issues that have existed for 500 years. That seems a natural formula for mental/emotional breakdown and despair.
You know, we have for centuries 'enjoyed' blaming White people for our troubles. But in many ways, the Caucasian has merely been a storm - a tsunami if you will - that has radically changed everything within the ecosystem. And now we Black people are left to try to reconcile whether EVERYTHING we thought, did and were still matters. |

Kola I am an African American woman and I do not feel embarrassed by you or think of you as a snob.
To the contrary, I feel sorry for you. Your caring is admirable, but you cannot force people to change who they are or how they have been raised. I used to enjoy reading Cynique telling you off, but the more I have re-read your posts, I see a lot of wisdom in much of what you have to say, but you also have emotional problems, girlfriend. We are not your children and you cannot plot down from the Moon and save us. Like ABM said, you need to save your own people.
If you want to be understood then you have to offer understanding to others and not constant judgements.
My two cents, sister.
P.S., I am reading your book "Flesh and the Devil" and it is the best love story I have ever read in my life! I did not know that you were this kind of writer. You remind me of a tropical James Baldwin or Toni Morrison. You should just be a writer and be happy with that.

I'm deeply sorry you felt this way, but I was just letting you know what I felt in my heart and how God loves everybody. And to forget Him, the one whom formed life would be dissapointing and inormal to me in many ways. For some people in this world God is all they have. God is the only good thing in their lives and they embrace Him. I'm just letting you know how good my life is with Him, and how good the lives of many Americans are with Him. If you love something you could do nothing but share it with the world even if you have to die for it. And well many American missionaries go all over the world to preach about God. Some of them don't come back because they may get killed. Now, I would really wonder why someone takes so many steps and sacrifices their lives for something they really love. Jesus Christ started it, and His followers are doing it too. Look on both sides and see what is good and what isn't, and why every time there's destruction, the entire world turns to God. Even the president is afraid to be president without God. It is a scary thing, but the truth.
Your money is your money and He understands that you earned it. But you have no control over tomorrow because He's in charge of it. He's also in charge of your money. He has control over everything in your life. But He loves you and that is why you are here with all that you have. And I believe in Him because He's the only one in this world that I turn to, that can change things from bad to good. I'd rather fight to have God exist in my money than to have Satan exist in my money. I'd give up everything to have God in my life.
"All dogs go to heaven" is some Hollywood movie I never checked out. "Passion of the Christ" is some Hollywood movie Hollywood had no faith in, but Mel Gibson turned out to win best drama for it. I never saw all of "Passion" in fact I don't know why America loved it so much. Maybe it's because they miss God and good morality in Hollywood. I don't know, maybe dogs do go to heaven, I don't know what God's going to do with them. I just know that when Adam and Eve left the garden that a dog was their only friend. So yeah, maybe dogs do go to heaven . I can have me a Mexican Chihuahua, that's my favorite dog ever. And Huskies cause they're so beautiful. These days dogs are the only children some people can have in America, so they treat them like a normal human beings. But maybe when they get to heaven they may not need a dog, but if it's in their heart to have it there, then maybe God will have it there for them.
Dogs sure are innocent so are all the animals, so I don't see why they couldn't go to heaven. Maybe with the exception of the snake, but the devil got into it when it got Eve to eat the forbidden fruit. So the snakes might be working just as hard as us people to get to heaven, lol.
A country isn't a country without God. The politics and Government is crazy and I don't like it. But at the same time, if they're the only people that rule this country, and have to make decisions, then it's best they make them according to the vote of the majority. And if the majority votes for no God, then I honestly would think the world is ending that same day.
I will say this again, God is the only one that makes me very happy. Life is not perfect, but with God nothing can break me. I want to die knowing that He lived with me wherever I was. Find the one thing that makes you happy, that you don't have to work for. That no matter how tired you are of everything, at least you have something that never hurts or makes you cry. And that for me, is God. No one can take that away from me, like you don't want your money taken away from you.
Americans complain about their government, but I actually think it is the best government in the entire world. Just try going to live in my country, the Sudan. You will know what really a bad government is then. And well I think Kola has it all explained.

Of course any man would "pretend" in church, but that is the devil's work.
The church can't tell who's into the sermon,man is responsible for their own faith. And God only listens when there's something asked of him.
And for your information Kola, my dad would never ask me anything like that you see because where I come from, only mothers are allowed to talk to their daughter about stuff like that because as their daughters, we look up to them as sons look up to their fathers.
Before the child, there is the parent and usually the child looks up to the parents, watching every move. There's not many parents in America that children can look up to, leaving no or very little respect for elders. I don't see what good that does to a society.
Still, I've ran into families that value good morals and I have great respect for them. They're the families who grow up in church, who keep God in their lives and earn respect from the world, and they are people like president Bush who so greatly pronounce God in his speeches. They are the reason I love America. And even the Muslim will love America with good morals. The devil convinced some that we were all going to hell when Bush became president. I said, that is not true.
I have known many good American families, both black and white. They are the ones God is using and with their help, there will always be God in America. And yes, the one in the dollar.
It is never my business to know what goes on in their homes especially sexually. That's why I never say anything concerning Kola's posts about her and her husband because I do respect her privacy even though she doesn't care who knows what goes on in her home. Although, knowing how hurtful it is for a man to leave a woman, I only told her that everything would be ok. And that is what I do for people I call friends. And when he returned, I told her that I was glad. And that was it.
Kola, I would appreciate it if you'd stop mentioning virginity and me. And Kola, I never mentioned anything about me being a virgin anywhere unless you looked at it differently. I only mentioned virginity about Michael, not me. I don't know where you came up with this. And I only said that I was Christian and believe in virginity before marriage. I never said anything concerning myself and virgity! Whether or not I am a virgin, that is my business to discuss with someone that I call mother.
I never want to say anything about what goes on in your living rooms when I'm not around because only you have control over your own privacy and not me. But hey, I'm not any of you. Do whatever makes you happy and keeps you unworried. ABM, there is no reason to be afraid. Ma man, God loves you!

I am so sorry that you were hurt by ABM's comment. I wish I had known to tell him not to kid around with you too harshly.
I love you and respect you immensely and I don't know how to make you understand that I know ABM and that he is a big prankster with a very dirty mouth, but at the same time, also has a big heart and is very tender and sensitive--quite a bit more than he likes to show.
With me, he tends to talk as though I'm one of the guys--because that's how our friendship is. We're like sailor buddies and we can say anything to each other.
Also know that I have ALWAYS confronted ABM about his sexism and it's been one of our major discussions on this board for years---he denies being sexist and I constantly point out to him the ways in which he is.
But still, ABM is married to a very beautiful feminist black woman and has two daughters. I have gotten to know a lot about him over the years and he is NOT the enemy....and trust me, his comments To and About MEN can be just as salacious and piercing as his ones about women. He's just a very witty, ribald older guy, but he is also brilliant and would not intentionally hurt a fly.

It’s been my experience that the pious will contort the boundaries of reality, history and even sanity to suit their proscriptions of their particular beliefs. And often, even those proscriptions themselves appear quite incongruent. |

You have to realize that some grown folks PLAY HARD and TALK NASTY to each other----it's nothing serious around here----ABM and I have known each other for years and talk VERY NASTY to each other, we love to kid around, but that's all it is.....is KIDDING.

Moonsigns is a White woman who used to post on the other board before I had my own.
We had a terrible FIGHT for weeks, and unfortunately, ABM made the mistake of trying to come to her defense.
It was VERY ugly, painful and (for me) cathartic. But of course ABM came back to his senses and MOONSIGNS casually slipped away.
She had come in here to DICTATE to us black women how we should feel about her PERFECT Black West Indian husband who had FOUND TRUE LOVE and salvation with her and their Beautiful World-Saving Bi-Racial Dalmations....oops, I meant children.
Of course, I never actually hated her as much as I pretended to, and to be honest---in the beginning, I really liked her. Until she started with the White Woman Saving the Black People bullshit.

AS for REAL LOVE with men, ASHERAH....I think that a huge part of my problem is that I don't believe in it.
Not in the conventional sense.
I believe that ALL HUMANS can only love to certain degrees and that love is an experience than grows and sometimes fades out and falls out like worn teeth.
I feel that I have had TRUE LOVE with one man---my children's father----and that we still love each other, but in a less passionate way. Our love now is more SENSIBLE and centered around our children and we know each other inside out and realize that we cannot change each other. I also think that personal "flaws" are like pimples on the face of TRUE LOVE.
Just because people are flawed doesn't mean that they don't feel real love for you or WANT to be what you want them to be.
I used to have a MAJOR problem with hating men....and one way that I STOPPED hating men.....was to stop having any EXPECTATIONS of what they should be---to just encounter and experience them as they are and to be prepared for the likelihood that the vast majority of them are going to disappoint or disrespect me in some way.....and that as a Black Woman who LOOKS BLACK....there are many in this country who will be prejudiced against me and not acknowledge me just because I'm black, both black and white.
But you're right. I do like being the submissive one in sex. I really do like to tease, seduce and exploit DOMINANT, macho men. I'm really turned on by men who DESPERATELY WANT to nail me. I love men's bodies and I love getting fucked by them and licking all over them. I can't deny it.
I'm sort of a "Fruit Cocktail FEMINIST with Whipped Cream on Top".

Well you know, Mahogany, I'm a HUGE Ousmane Sembene fan and I recently got to talk to him on the phone.
Two of early books are dedicated to him and I finally got to send him copies and sign them. I love him so much. He's truly one of my heroes. Make sure you see his film "Guelewar".

I think that it would be virtually impossible for an atheistic to maintain an important position in governmental affairs. Jefferson himself admitted that, in spite of reservations about religion, faith was a necessary element of building/maintain a country. Because most of the major religions assert personal, familial and communal cohesiveness and responsibility. And those are VITAL to creating effective systems of civil discourse, conflict resolution and cultural/social maintenance.
But there apparently was some margin of variety on the issue of slavery.
Washington(1st President) and Jefferson(3rd President) owned slaves. Washington’s will released his slaves upon wife’s death. Jefferson’s only released Sally Hemming’s (and presumably HIS) children.
Adams(2nd President), Alexander Hamilton and Benjamin Franklin were staunchly against slavery. They them made their positions publicly known (the Franklin frequently decried the evils of slavery in his publications) In fact, although Jefferson and Hamilton admired each other immensely, the issue of slavery remained a gaping wound in their relationship.
On balance, I think the country’s founders tolerated slavery more than they championed or lauded it. Still. That don't exonerate them of contributing to the nations most evil era and institution. |
