This is a minor thing but it bugs me:
I am not feelin' the white girls wearing lowrider jeans. YUK!!! Their lil' "Jane-n-Judy" booties just can't work the "back action" the way my sistahs can. |

You keep me laughing so much, ABM.
dukan cake...is a really nice, fine BEHIND.
Be aware that WEST African women...and not us East African women...but West African women, are the ones who most often possess the "dukan cake". While we East African women are taller, thinner, more Afghan-looking (as in the Afghan dog) with the trademark elongated face and super high cheekbones...the West African woman is shorter, more voluptuos and has thick "goddessa" lips, round hips and a high, clove-shaped helmut butt. In Ghana, from a distance, you often think these women have balloons on the back of their skirts!! But no--her West African "dukan cake" has become WORLD FAMOUS.
Unfortunately...it's only usually celebrated when it appears on Black male athletes or in the person of Jennifer Lopez or some other person with black genes...but no blackness.
Notice how your mother's lips look good on Angelie Jolie...or her ass looks good on Jennifer Lopez...or her cheekbones look good on Sophia Loren. Or her braids look good on Bo Derek.
But your mother herself..she never gets the credit for her own beauty...because her skin is BLACK (and it's the BLACK they don't want--not the lips, ass, braids--it's the black skin they don't want). And out of her womb...comes black men.
So she is the accurate word that Toni Morrison created to describe it...."dis-allowed". Even by her own black sons.
ABM...in Egypt, there is a hieroglythic in the paen of the Sun Religion that says:
"The blacker she is, the more woman she is. Too much woman..blocks the Sun."
I am trying to get you to understand that this is an ancient war tactic....the separating of the Black man from his real mother. For without her, he becomes less and less of himself...until he is no longer a man in the eyes of the rest of the world...but a "lost" bastard who no one respects. This is how the white conquererors and the Arab men brought down North Africa and bastardized the Sahara population to the point of "disbelonging" to their own mother...Black Africa.
When you...Kill Your Mother...you become nothing.

So, considering how countryboy-made-good Billy Bob Thorton got to get down greasy with Halle Berry (Monster's Ball), I figure I'm entitle to a musty tussle with his pouty-lipped ex-wife.

But anyway, it's not deflated too bad. It's just harder and smaller, because Thomas built himself a gymn room and I started using it.
I'm in my thirties now...so I really have to keep toned.
My famous "chest" is starting to sag some and I don't know what I'm going to do for the new book photos. I had once vowed to show them sagging..in natural African fashion...but now I dread it. I think I might tape them up and airbrush them.
Then again, it's only a slight sag...so people might not even notice.
GOSH, ABM. Someone is going to come and tell us to stop talking. I can just feel it. We better talk about BOOKS more.

ABM...thanks for proving my point about the power of film images, video images and magazine images...and their power to persuade people about what is beautiful and desirable. This is a large part of what is going on in America and ALWAYS HAS.
You mentioned how a film featuring a flawless Angelina Jolie now has you savoring and lusting for her--appreciating her beauty.
But you might also have noticed...that young, beautiful black women of childbearing age are FILMED (publicly featured) in such a way maybe 1% to a white woman's 150%.
Not only that..but when a black women's image is finally presented as "sexy..beautiful..desirable"...it is almost ALWAYS in the person of a "lightskinned"...wavy haired woman...
...hense she STILL is there to confirm European beauty ideals...rather than authentic black ones.
As much I love Halle Berry...I don't think of her looks as being representative of black female beauty. She represents the beauty of "mixed race" women...which America has always put in place of authentic Black beauty...therefore rendering a black woman's African beauty invisible.
BUT...Black American men have been programmed for centuries to think that Lena Horne and Halle Berry are the standard bearers of "Beautiful Black Women". These women are not even BLACK.
What those sisters are chosen to do...is affirm the European beauty standard.
And that's a bitter fact that NOBODY in the black community wants to face up to.

Correction:
To MY non-American eyes...Lena Horne and Halle Berry are not "Black" women, although I am a fan of both.
Their blood is "mixed". But yet and still...they are propped up by Racism and Colorism to represent nearly a billion faceless, nameless invisible women who really are Black.
I watched an old Lena Horne movie recently. I noticed how all the men were allowed to actually look dark and Black...but every single female (except the maid) was cast as either mulatto or octoroon.
That's the racist colorism I'm speaking of--because by rendering authentic black women invisible...we systemically, generation after generation, breed her children out of the world. That's the whole purpose of it.

Oh ho! So is this the part where drag me out to the racial solidarity woodshed for expressing a little Jungle Fever for me some Angeline Jolie? Now dat ain't fair. Hey. I don't get pissed when my wife gets all bubbly over seeing 007 alumni Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan. Actually, It's almost a slight turn-on. (I know, I know. I've got ishues.)
I like Jolie because she is one of the few Hollywood movie stars, white/black/male/female, who has the artistic abandon to present unflattering, even loathsome images of herself.
And actually I don't think it is Jolie's beauty that did it for me (sometimes she looks good, other times she looks weird) as much as it was her performance in the movie Original Sin that captured a part of my licentious imagination. The Original is basically about a woman who seductively schleps up/down 19th Century Central America and uses her great sexual powers to con rich men outta their dough. And Banderas is one of her marks that she can't shake.
There is this 1 scene in Original where she/Banderas are caught cheating 4 men at cards. They beat the "schrait" beejeebers outta Banderas and rudely toss him down a flight of stairs. They then turn toward Banderas's hapless partner with the look in their eyes that clearly indicate she was soon to receive a different kind of "pounding". But rather than cower as they lustfully approach her with thoughts of penile payback in tow, she matter-of-factly faces an adjacent table, place 1 hand on it and uses the other to flip up the rear of her dress so as to haughtily assert, "I know what you m#$%!#f#@$*rs are going to do, and I ain't afraid of you. So quickly get to your business with me, be done with it, then be on your way." |

I like Halle Berry too. She is Beauty Queen, but has put in some gritty, grunt work too (though I think Jolie is a superior actress.). I am still unconvinced that she has great natural talent. Her performances still appear somewhat stilted to me. Yet you can see that she seems to really earnestly work at her craft.
BTW: Halle did not win the Academy Award because of her Monster's Ball performance. And she did not win it as recompense for the scores of AA actresses who were previously denied the honor.
Halle won the Academy Award because she bravely powered the bittersweet tale of Dorothy Dandridge story into fruition after years of fits-n-starts by other wannabe impresarios. Before, Halle's Dandridge was released, there has been a pall of consternation and guilt surrounding Dorothy Dandridge since the day Dorothy died. Here was a woman who was easily the artistic equal of (& superior to most) her white peers that was viciously beaten down by racism. And so when Halle did what many before her failed to do, and gloriously did so in award-winning fashion, she helped to finally exorcise a ghost that has haunted Tinsletown for decades.
After Dandridge, Halle graduated from being just another multiracial starlet who litter LALA Land (number in the legions) into being a true Hollywood player who can get a major project done. After Dandridge, Halle effectively asserted to the Hollywood powers, "Look here good-ol'-boys. Yeah, I'm cute-n-all. So go-on and work thru yawhl lil' Jungle Fever fantasies. But now you see I can also play your whole game and make a lot of dough for you too. So give me what I'm due."
Actually, I think Halle's greatest cinematic contributions will likely occur after takes her final curtain call. With her drive, guts, instincts and charisma, Halle could easily evolve into a great movie producer, possibly even the head of a major studio. |

Snake girl where are you getting your information about Lena Horne being mixed? During an interview I remember her mentioning that she was just light enough to make it as a chorus girl at the Cotton club. Check out the book Lena's daughter Gail wrote about The Hornes who were a prominent black family with deep roots in the south. |

The entire Horne family must be mixed...otherwise she would not look White.
Two pure blacks could not produce Lena Horne. Those two people must have been mixed as well.
Although, you must remember..you have a "one drop" rule for categorizing blackness--a racist rule that I do not accept. So this is our difference in perception.
ON THE OTHER HAND:
A good example of a lightskinned woman who is authentically BLACK is Toni Morrison.
Look at her face and her shoulders. Her nose is clearly Denkinyira--her eyes and cheeks are Hausa--her mouth is Wolof..her hair is African (the one true hair). Everything about her is BLACK and yet she is light colored.
She is an authentic black woman.
Another good example is PEARL CLEAGE. Her skin is practically white, she has blue eyes...but her African features dominate everything. She doesn't look White or Spanish like Lena Horne (who needed to use dark makeup to darken herself--she looked white).
