I've started this thread in response to Kola's Post, so you may want to read this article first (http://www.thumperscorner.com/discus/messages/179/217.html)
(Kola, I resposted this thread because the subject of our thread did not indicate what your post was about)

The most interesting quote, to me, is:
"So bash Bush for starting what you may consider an unjust war if you must, but spare me the notion that Hussein or any other Arab is a Third World brown brother.
The history just doesn’t support the notion.

I don't think many black people realize the point the article makes. I'm a black male who was raised Baptist. I went to all-black elementary, middle and high school. Everything in my life was black. I went to a very large 99% white university for undergrad. At first, it was weird, but then I quickly making friends (mostly white).

Eventually, I encountered an Arab student. He was attending a course in intensive English. He was from N. Africa, and spoke French and Arabic. I spoke French somewhat, and so we sort of hit it off. Initially, he was just like anyone else I had met. He seemed cool at the time. Eventually, we grew closer and became pretty good friends; and as his English got better, he ventured out more and started going out with my and my other friends. After about 6 months, I began to notice that he had poor social skills. He was very hotheaded and inconsiderate of others feelings, and pretty soon he alienated himself from all of my other pals. Pretty soon, I was the only one left to hang out with him. Then he shifted focus and looked for other Arabs to hang out with. I followed him nto his new social circles and met other North African Arabs (mainly from Morocco, but also Tunisia, and Algeria). At this point, he became a bit more secure, and I suppose started being his true self. This is whe began experiencing what the article speaks of.

Right off the bat, I noticed that when we went out to clubs (me and the Arabs), all they wanted were blond haired women. The women didn't have to be pretty, fine, or anything. Just blonde. My friend wouldn't look at a black girl to save his life. The sad part is that black women thought he was so good looking without even realizing that it sickened him to think about hooking up with a black girl. Also, the white women rejected him constantly. He'd call black women "Beulah" - something he learned back in his home country from watching old movies about slavery in America. He'd also make fun of black by translating "ebonics" to French for his Arab friends. He'd say, for example, "Je etre etudiant"--which loosely translates to "I be a student". He even got up the nerve to call me a nigger. At that point I had to teach him a lesson. We actually came to blows and he ended up with a busted lip and a few other bruises. Sadly, many of the Arabs had the same opinions of blacks. They thought we were all stupid, and that I was the exception since I made good grades and spoke OK English. Eventually, I left the group of Arabs altogether and returned to my black, white, and Asian pals.

I must add that not all of the Arabs in the group were like that. Some where very cool and not racist in the least. So my point isn't that all Arabs are racist, it's just to say that it certainly exists in pockets. But then again, that's probably true for all groups of people.

listen i think the biggest problem in the entire world is that the diferent black nations are very ignorant and the reason why i say this is because i live in a town where it used to be predominatley white this was in the 80`S now this same town is made up of 70% dominican 10% white and 5% black. It used to be that the whites hatted the blacks but now it`s the dominicans hatting the blacks. I find this to be really funny because they are just as black as i am but they still insist on callig african americans niggers. and lets not talk about a race who is educated but a race that comes from a poor country and they do nothing but sell drugs and the funny part is when they get caught they run back too there country until things cool down and then come back under a new identity but if i was to make an attempt to sell drugs which i have no desire to do. But the white run police station will lock me under the jail and the dominican get a slap on the rist. there is no justice for blacks in america. And i`m sick and tired of the injustices that we as a people go through everyday. I wish that I had a country to run to I would leave this fu.. up country we so call the land of the free because you r only free if you have the loot to be free.

Hey Cedric,
I always enjoy reading authentic, nitty-gritty observations like yours. I've kinda given up on this country. It's now in a phase of "empire" building, and if it's not careful, it's going to collapse from within, just like Rome!
