What kind of discussion is this? Jesus was'nt black, and he was'nt white. He was a man of color/jew. Jews/hebrews were not originally africans/black people, they were people with melanin. Erica ============================== Dear Sister Erica, I am afraid that your letter comes across as rather silly, emotional and essentially baseless. The earliest images of deities invariably show them as Black. There is far too much research and writings on the subject to seriously debate the issue. And, yes, how we view god is of great importance. In my slide presentations I show an abundance of Black images of god from around the world. Nobody here is interested in imitating European behavior. We only want to tell the truth and we tend to just understand and accept that. If you want an excellent reference on the subject of the Black Madonna and Child, including the Black Madonna and Child of Montserrat, you might consult Ean Begg's book The Cult of the Black Virgin. You can also get a lot of references at my Global African Presence web site. As for the Jews, all I will tell you is that as far as I know the earliest depictions of them are to be found in the British Museum. They are captured prisoners of war by the Assyrians from the city of Lachish in Judea more than 2700 years ago. I have seen them numerous times during my visits to the musuem and they are as Black (Africoid) as any images that you will ever see. One of the images is reproduced in my African Presence in Early Asia anthology. I realize that you are very young but try to read and study a bit more before you make blanket statements that have little or no merit in fact. I didn't think what Erica had to say was silly. I did find Brother Runoko to be dogmatic and abrasive, anything but what you'd expect from a man of God. Furthermore, I've always been led to believe that Judaism is a religion not a race. | ||

Judaism is a religion, but since it was practiced by a particular ethnic group, one that has been condemned, they were racialized. To differentiate between Jews and Germans, Germans began to focus on "Jewish" features: feet, nose,etc... | ||

Troy...this is Kola...one of the only ancient Hebrew Hymns to still exist, ("Khu Sahu Sekem") is written by ancient Blue Black Nilotic Jewish women of Sudan's Nile river. You will find that I wrote this hymn down in its Hebrew form in my book "Long Train" on page 38. Many of the Cushites and Nubians were JEWS. We call Jesus Christ "Prophet Ciisa" in East Africa--his African Jewish name. My Egyptian grandmother has long hid the fact that her own grandmother was a Fallasha (a Black Jewish tribe of which there are still more than a million in Sudan and our neighbor country Ethiopia--another half a million live in Isreal today). The original Hebrews were BLACK, Troy (you should look up Semetic and Hemetic tribes in Sudan)...and many races of people in that part of the world that are now of lighter complexion were once darker and woolier than they are now, most notably the Italians, Sicilians and Greeks...all of whom were supposed to be mixed race experiments that would live as symbols of human parity--sort of like the multicultural campaign of today. Unfortunately, as most North African blacks learned when Cleopatra enforced the law of intermarriage on Egypt...this mixing never produces the "peaceful" winning result that people think it will. It only further divides and alienates the resulting groups..as the Hebrews became great examples of this. Worse than that, they now look down on their origins. Since I do speak Arab and SOME Hebrew, I try to keep the history of our people in my work and pass it to the American Blacks so that they will have the women's side of history...such as the Hymn of the Good Mother (Khu Sahu Sekem). | ||

Hi Cynique: Don't completely judge Runoko by the single phase I've included. I'm sure you can appreciate how that might not be fair. If you looked you could excerpt a phase or two of mine or yours, out of the content, of the entire thread that could make us appear abrasive as well. I included the quote with my rhetorical subject line to spark discussion. I don't think what Erica said was silly either. She does not want Black people to go around doing the exactly what whites have done by changing history. However there is very little danger of that happening. Runoko is not, nor is he in a position to, force his view of history on any one else. The oppressor will under penlaty of death imposed his ideas on you -- there is a big difference. Virutally all of what Runoko says is supported by primary and strong secondary evidence. When he gives a lecture he show pictures he quotes other historicans. He is not merely promulgating the party line of the ruling class. Besides he is probably tired of so many folks won't even entertain the possibility Black Jesus - despite the evidence. Hi Yukio I bet the Germans took a page from the American history book by isolating the Jews based upon physcial characteristics. Everything, particularly in the US is racialized. It has been and continues to be an effective tool of the oppressor. It seems as our culture (American) influences the rest of the world. The racialization will become more effective -- at least pervasive. This does not bode well for the darker skinned people of the world. Hi Kola, interesting post. Hello All, Thanks Kola for dropping some much needed knowledge. I was ignorant on this subject as well, until I read Gloria Naylor's book, Bailey Cafe. It was an eye opener for me on African Jews. Brother Runoko was on point. Baby girl was beggin for a lesson and he gave it to her. We should be more alarmed by her ignorance. | ||

Just about everyone on the Bible is Black, or shade thereof, in the rare instance such as leporacy, a cursed, or raised from the dead [I just assumed that one] are white people present in the bible. They don't make much about color because racist America, and their racist european counterparts were not in existence yet. First massive, rebellious sin had to enhabit the earth, then God had to purge the wicked out of their land (Africa) to areas where the weather was brutal, after that you start to see white folk. But those neanderthalman (homoaduhdus) were of no significance to be include in the Bible. By the time those white folk were able to figure out how to walk upright the Bible was complete (old and new testaments). A couple of big hints, if you can get every color of the spectrum out of the color black, but cannot get black out of any other color other than black, especially not white, clearly the FIRST man had to be Black, now if God made man in his own image [I believe that] you may safely conclude that God is Black. Furthermore, if God cursed people to the extent that they permenantly or temporarily lost their color isn't that an indication oh how God felt about color (not race but color). Now as for the Jews, the first Jews were Black, and as stated earlier many still exist. And to dove-tail on to another statment that was elluded to earlier, Jesus was a Jew. Christianity started after he departed. When he baptised people he did it as a Jew, when he preached his gospel The Old Testament was the only Testament.... oh yes, by the way, Jesus was a Black Jew too. Peace | ||

Hey Norwood...question did God curse people to the extent that they permanently or temporarily lost their color or did a MAN curse man. I don't recall anywhere in the Bible where God cursed man about color or race...but then again I'm not aware of everything that's in the Bible so if you can point me to the Scripture that says God cursed people and it affected their color I would grately appreciate it. Norwood, Nobody nowadays denies that we all started out black. What happened after that is attributed to the genetic mutations which started to occur in the form of albinos. Considered outcasts, they were driven off from their tribes and ended up traveling to other lands. | ||
