Considering Bush has been re-elected, what do you feel the future holds for America, as well as abroad (in all respects--socially, politically, spiritually and financially)?

I should think the consensus view around these parts would be pretty self-evident: Havoc hath been wrought upon us.
But one thing that may bear witnessing: The GOP has no more excuses.
The Republicans now firmly hold the Congress, the White House and the Judiciary. And the Democrats can scarcely lift a finger to stop'em.
So if things worsen, if we descending into a deepening miasma of war, a draft, terrorism, economic depression, outsourcing, job loss, global warming and other environmental catastrophes, crime, etc...it will be ENTIRELY the Republicans fault...and the 'Reagan Revolution" will have been proven to have been a lie.
So, we’ll soon ‘see’ what you are REALLY all about GOP...well ‘see’. |

The optimist in my heart believes that there is hope, as well as opportunity, for positive change to take place within our country.
I'm sure you've heard Ralph Nader speak. What are your thoughts on his views?

Nader hasn't been the same since he had a stroke some years ago. The "real" Nader scorned political office and would never have deigned to be involved in politics because you have to compromise your principles to do it.
Things are going to get very serious real soon. Rehnquist is getting ready to retire from the Supreme Court and Bush will probably appoint a conservative Latino to replace him which will seal their vote for the next Republican candidate in 2008. Surely Sandra Day O'Conner and maybe one more will also retire during this term. He will be able to stack the Court and Roe v. Wade may become a distant memory for a very long time.
The Democrats really have to figure out a way to regain their base because they have lost it somehow. They affect the coasts of this country, but they are not touching middle America and they need to. |

Lemme ask: What did Ralph Nader do OTHER than annoy the rest of us and embarras the h*ll out of himself.
I think the once-great Ralph Nader (like Jesse Jackson, Bill Cosby, etc.) have become an old man who will do mostly anything to falsely prove he still has the great influence/energy he once had.
Moreover, I think that he's, like many other 'do-gooders', is a GD hypocrite.
Because he's taken money's from GOP supporters to keep his scraggling campaign going.
And Nader b@#$%/moan about the evil/greed of multinatinal corporations. Yet he won't reject a single opportunity to appear on TV/cable news/talk programs all of which are own/operated by, guess who, multinatinal corporations.
And had Nader stayed his crappot@$$ out of the 2000 election, even if everything else held to form, Gore would have won New Hampshire...which would have given him the presidency.
So I have nothing but remorse for the man Nader once was, And I have nothing but regret for the man he's become. |

Thanks for your response. My mother and I were discussing the topic of abortion last night. Considering your profession, I'd like to know your opinion. What do you feel are the possibilities that Roe vs. Wade could be overturned?

It is not so much a matter of whether I “like Nader”. Because he’s done some genuinely WONDERFUL things. I shudder to think what would be the state of consumer, employee and environmental rights/regulation without Nader championing the cause of the ‘little guy’.
But it seems his earnest ship has finally run aground...and its is time this brave captain relinquish steer-n-stern to another. |
