This cat is self destructing right before our eyes. Kind of like most of my musical heros from the Sixties that reached through the stratosphere but burned up on re-entry.

Rrrrr is scarred.

R. Kelly Booted From Jay-Z Tour

Sat Oct 30,11:10 PM ET
By LARRY McSHANE, Associated Press Writer

NEW YORK - The tumultuous tour pairing platinum-selling stars R. Kelly and Jay-Z came to an abrupt end Saturday, one day after Kelly walked offstage during a performance and allegedly was blasted with pepper spray by a member of Jay-Z's entourage.

Kelly was booted from shows Saturday and Monday at Madison Square Garden by the promoter, who told the "I Believe I Can Fly" singer that he was banned from the facility, said his publicist, Allan Mayer. The promoter announced that Jay-Z, with special guests, would do the shows alone.

"The fans deserve better than this," Kelly said in a statement. "I'd like the show to go on. It's really disappointing that Jay-Z and the promoter don't."

Jay-Z and R. Kelly were in the midst of a 40-city "Best of Both Worlds" tour, which has been beset by canceled shows and reports that the feuding performers weren't even on speaking terms.

The tour, which had been scheduled to run through Nov. 28, has been canceled, said promoter Jeff Sharp of Atlanta Worldwide Touring. Jay-Z's publicist was unsure if the rapper would try and fill the remaining dates as a solo act.

The pepper-spray incident happened about an hour into Friday night's show, when Kelly walked on stage and said he saw two people in the audience waving guns, Mayer said. Kelly abruptly stopped his set around 9:30 p.m. while arena security employees searched for weapons.

Finding none, guards told Kelly it was safe to continue performing, Mayer said. But as the singer was making his way back to the stage, a man in Jay-Z's entourage — apparently miffed that Kelly interrupted the show — sprayed him and two of his bodyguards in the face, Mayer said.

"I'm pretty sure Jay didn't realize what was going on," Mayer said.

All three men were treated at St. Vincent's Hospital and released, he said. Jay-Z performed for another 45 minutes after Kelly was sprayed.

Jana Fleishman, publicist for Jay-Z, said Saturday that the rapper's entourage knew nothing about the incident because it occurred while Jay-Z was performing. Jay-Z "did not attack R. Kelly in any way, shape or form," Fleishman said.

In a radio interview on Hot 97 FM radio Friday, Jay-Z said he couldn't understand why Kelly left the stage.

"You can't get a gun inside Madison Square Garden," the rapper said. "If people give me love he can't take it."

Mayer said Kelly's lawyers were filing a criminal complaint against the man who allegedly sprayed him and also were considering legal action over the decision to remove the singer from the remaining tour dates.

"We're considering all possible ways of protecting Robert's interests," Mayer said.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported discord between the two performers after Kelly showed up more than two hours late for a show in Chicago and walked off the stage mid-performance in St. Louis this month.

Three shows on the tour were canceled because of "technical difficulties" suffered by Kelly, Fleishman said.

On Tuesday, Kelly and Jay-Z released their collaborative CD "Unfinished Business."

Actually, Jay Z's the one who deserves to get scolded here.

Because JZ broke off doing a tour and releasing an album with R. Kelly when RK was charged with child rape/molestation/pornography 2 years ago.

Since, however, RK has managed to continue his hitmaking career (even though he's STILL under criminal indictment), JZ conveniently turns fair-weather friend ("I'll be there 'til the end...") on RK and reactivates their musical joint venture.

JZ and his handlers should have anticipated that the unscrupulous, megalomaniacal RK would harbor resentment for JZ having previously bailed on him and that antagonism would taint their professional relationship.

But JZ is apparently more concerned with scoring another hit record than having personal/professional integrity.

Thus, JZ 'figuratively' got done to him what RK had 'literally' done to a 14 year old girl: Jay Z got p@$$ed on!

PS: When I first started reading Rondall's thread, I thought JZ might have booted RK because RK felt-up Beyonce's PHAT @$$ while JZ's back was turned. But I quickly remembered that JZ's 20-something galpal is about 10 years to old for the tastes of hip-hop's 'pied piping' pedophile.

AMEN A_Womon.

I am ALL for his downfall.

And I never thought I would feel that way about a black artist.

I agree ABM.

I totally despise J.Z. as well, and in general, I see the "Hip Hop" culture as being the very worst---the most destructive movement that Black People have ever had in our history, outside the slave trade.

If white men are "white devils"---then Hip Hop and Rap has proven that black men can be his spitting image, politically and socially, completely destroying and annihilating what was left of our people....GLOBALLY.

And Jay Z. hit a woman, too, backstage.

I don't want my sons to grow up and be like these men.

****

MY HERO is "K.R.S. One". I greatly admired and respected "Eric B. and Rakim". I "think" I like COMMON and I greatly admire Mos Def.

But most of the "clap" sellers are trash. And even Queen Latifah has become a blonde, sellout baffoon...Eve is weak and a "follower"...Lil Kim is a straight up nigger.

CAN WE have M.C. Lyte and Salt and Pepa back?

Actually. I like Foxy Brown. Her "Broken Silence" CD is one of the best rap cd's I've ever heard. I love it. But her IMAGE--is totally stupid and rat-finkish.

I love M.C. Lyte the best. And of course LAURYN HILL is the strongest artist out there IMO. I'm glad that her new CD (of which I've heard about 8 cuts) is so emphatically POWERFUL and "meaningful" and "about something"....for the PEOPLE.

Just goes to show what happens when you pair 2 "prima donnas" on a road tour. Jay-Z claims he is retiring from the Rap scene to concentrate on the business end of the record industry, so he seems to have some direction. Obviously "R" needs to fall back and re-group. Doing a little repenting should also be on his agenda

For whatever reason, this "Worst of Both Worlds" album and tour is not meant to be, then or now.

Jay needs to focus on his reported new job as head of Island, his wifey, and chill out!

Kola,

You must be trynah seduce me.

Because you know when I see a chick mention KRS-1 ("is not a sequel"), Eric B. ("is on the cut") and ("my name is") Rakim, and McLyte ("as a rock") mentioned in one breath; I can't help but get all warm/cuddly inside. :-)

And I agree with most of your other points about today's variety of Hip-Hoppers (sans your continuing deification of one-album wonder Lauryn Hill).

But blaming Hip-Hop for the current Black social condition is akin to blaming the 'knife' that O.J. used to decapitate Nicole.

I disagree with you Abm... Jay Z stepped aside and refused to do any touring and promoting with R Kelly until he settled his legal woes {which no one has ever done, that man lost out on mad money because based on the principals of the matter, u gotta give him his respect for that}. He said he respected him and considered him a freind but that he could not associate with him until he cleared his name. Well it's not Jay Z's fault that he was cleared of the charges (Jay Z didn't make up that bull shit new law out of no where that states in Chicago it is not illegal to have sex with a female under 17...and in the video tape they are unable to determine if the girl is under 17 years of age...can u say BULL SHIT). R. Kelly weasled his way of that on his own and you can't blame Jay for that. R. Kelly is selfish (as proved with his case, a real man, well let me rephrase that because a real man would have never done it, but a man would have been MAN enough to admit his wrongs and try to right them which he never did and probaley never will) so as i was saying he is selfish and could not beleive or should I say accept that Jay is bigger than he is. He was hating, had hate in his blood...don't let his hate run off on you...All of us Tri-State area peeps know damn well ain't nobody get no guns up in MSG...that shit is impossible!!! I some of (well a lot of it) R-rah's music but he's not a very humble person and he's not fly enough to be as cocky as he is........he's a suk-a-nut!!!

Brelei,

What are you talking about?

Okay. You’ve have obviously got some late-breaking new that I somehow missed.

When did R.Kelly "cleared his name"?

To my knowledge, there’s been no change in IL law clearing RK of molestation. As far as I know, RK is STILL under criminal indictment.

And the ONLY reason he hasn't been already been tried/convicted is he's got enough dough to spend to doctor up enough excuses (a.k.a. lies) to beat the rap.

Maybe RK fellow Chicagoan Cynique can provide the current actual-factuals here.

Still. Even if everything you say is true, I think that by continuing to consort with RK, thus helping to provide RK with add’l money and fame, Jay Z is indirectly enabling RK to get away with continuing to prey upon immature/naïve females. And for that reason, I point thumbs-down to the Jiggaman.

PS: You just like Jay Z because his relationship with Beyonce gives the plastic Destiny Child'er street cred.

Abm:

I had to go double check myself so I went back to my source (www.nbc4news.com) and it was printed that on March 1st that 7 of his charges were dropped because of that BS they claim up in Chicago and on March 17th ALL of his Florida charges were dropped. Also when I said 'cleared his name' I was being facetious....His name will never be cleared (streetwise), he'll always be a pedophile even if he's never found guilty of it because yes he's rich enough to beat it. Beleive me in no way am I saying R-ah is innocent because he is not. And everytime I sing or jam to his song (with the exception of He Saved Me because that song glorifies the Lord and I'm all good with that) I can feel Kola's eyes burning my soul and her words peircing my heart because in all honesty I can see her point (how us black folks are supporting him when we should not be). I still beleive my point is valid...if we take that route we'd have to stop {actually must because we would be a hyprocrite to not listen to R. Kelly but rock to Rick James) listening to almost ALL the music of the world because in essence most, if not all of these musician have had inappropiate relationships with women/girl under the age of consent (shoooooooot, my cousin lost mad respect for Ray Charles when we saw his movie last night based on the fact that he was not just a womanizer but a MARRIED womanizer..not saying there were underage but i am sure you'd find at least one up in his list of woman).

Abm said: PS: You just like Jay Z because his relationship with Beyonce gives the plastic Destiny Child'er street cred.

Brelei says: Damn is it that obvious....lol, no actually I've always been a Jay Z fan and couldn't stand Beyonce (I always said once she and Jay broke up I'd no longer be her fan...lol) but based on her being Jay's 'hottest chick in the game wearing his name' I took a chance on her CD and actually found it to be one of my favorites. I also purchased her DVD (Live at Wimbley) and found it to be a great investment being that my children want to be 'SUPA-STARS'. She is very talented and if she is not (according to other people) she sho' is one hell of an awesome illusionist because she sho' do sang, act, and look (a-like-a) star.....

I don't think R Kelly has been cleared of all the charges against him in Chicago. He keeps getting continuances and he had to get permission to leave town to go on this tour. And statutory rape, the crime of having sex with a minor under 17, is not some trumped-up Chicago charge. It's the law of the land, isn't it???

Brelei,

Yeah. Some, but not all, the charges against Kelly were dropped.

How can you look yourself in the mirror after you have listened to his music? Given your personal history, I just can’t understand that.

By supporting his music, it is almost like in a very small way you are continuing to enable your own abuse.

I admit you got me with Rick James comparison.

But I guess I would distinguish James and Kelly by saying that James was made to pay for his crime via criminal conviction and imprisonment. Yet Kelly apparently CONTINUED to prey upon girls even after he got caught illegally marrying Aaliyah.

So my problem with Kelly isn’t just what he did, it’s that he never has owned up to or have been made accountable for what he’s done.

But yeah, few men survive fame/fortune without suffering some demons that incite a man’s weakness for the fairer (and often younger) sex.

HAHA! Beyonce is indeed quite the "illusionist".

Bleekindigo,

I just think the more fame/fortune Kelly garners, the easier it will be for him to continue do the evil he does because he’ll have so many powerful friends that prosecutors will be scared to confront what he’s doing. Thus, I criticize the extent Jay Z assists RK in doing that.

Rashena,

I think that is "just desserts" to Jay Z. He should have known that a man who’s evil enough to p*$$ on kid would p*$$ on his @$$ too.

Cynique:
You misunderstood what I was saying. Chicago is the state who clamis that the reason they dropped 7 of those charges is because 'IN CHICAGO IT IS NOT ILLEGAL TO HAVE SEXUAL INTERCOURSE WITH A CONSENTING 17 YEAR old AND THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE PROOF THAT THE GIRL WAS UNDER 17'....that seems like bull shit to me because I was always under the impression that anyone who has sex with a 17 year old was just as guilty as if the person was 15. I didn't know there were standards {but I guess so when it's someone with loot}.

Abm said:

I can see your point, that actually is my main beef with him because he never fessed up to it. Never admitted he had a problem

Then Abm said:

But yeah, few men survive fame/fortune without suffering some demons that incite a man’s weakness for the fairer (and often younger) sex.

My point exactly which lead me to the next 2 things #1 why is that you can see and understand that for other people but not him (even though you really answered that..hehehe) and #2...
Rick James NEVER did his time for creeping with a minor. As a matter of fact, that minor (who later became his wife) did time with him because they got cracked up and made someone else smoke crack and burnt her with a crack pipe (oh my gosh that sounds so funny...BURN HER WIT THE CRACK PIPE BYTCH!!!)

You know you just made that up to so you wouldn't look just as guilty as I look for rocking to pedo-phillic (lol) music....tisk tisk tisk on the whole world.......This is a prime example of what people do to the bible (no dis to you personally Abm, you know i luuuuuuuuuvs you...this is generally speaking). People have a tendency to have one outlook on things but change the outlook slighty to fit their lifestyles. You can't knock one man for abusing a child and overlook it for the next man. Now you know that ain't right.......

Also I do feel that I would be in the wrong for accusing you or any other man for the actions that my uncle took upon me when I was younger. How smart does that sound to say that me listening to R. Kelly's music in enabling my own abuse...R. Kelly ain't never molest me (I'm too old for him anywat) and I can't hold my uncles actions against him, just doesn't make sense. I just don't see the logic in that statement. I would say that in normal circumstances that previously abused women would be more prone to hate/attack/not like/generalize/distrust men (in general as well as know abusers) but as all have seen (and some spoke on) I am not your normal abused victim. I unlike most victims am able to freely speak about my abuse as well as communicate freely with my abuser {I beleive that has a lot to do with the fact that i wasn't penatrated, i was fondled not that one is better than the other). I also have come to a place in my life where I realize that we all have opinions but we do not have the right to judge {jury duty was a killer for me} so I can not and do not condem R. Kelly for what he did (i wouldn't allow him around my children as that would just be plain stupid), I pity him because he is not humble and as long as he can not/will not admit his problems his demons will continue to overcome him.

True. Most people aren't very consistent. They hold one view for those they like and an opposite view for those they don't though both parties are committing the same offense. It all depends upon which side of the fence you're standing as to how you feel or view about an issue. And, some folk will then still try to straddle it.

Thanks for straightening me out, folks. I really thought the statutory rape laws involved the same age for every state. Wonder what the youngest age of consent is and in which state it applies to.

So true Jmho, so true...glad u can see it too. well actually we all can see it, it's just that some of us act like we don't...

now this has nothing to do with anything but my 7 year old has been pressing me to vote so I asked her (actually I asked both of them, and my 2 year old said 'me' as in vote for her...she'd not only be the youngest president at 2 but she'd be the first woman and the first black person...lol) so back to the original story, my 7 year old told me to vote for Martin Luther King and when I told her he would make a great president but he is dead she said he'd come back to life for the job....kids say the darn-dist thangs...lol.

Brelei,

You make some compelling points. I don't think, however, they apply to me.

Because 1) I sincerely thought James had done time for his involvement with a minor (Guess it is time for me to update my Rick James' trival files.) and 2) I don't give enough of a crap about either James/Kelly to give a f@#$ about either of'em.

If James were alive, I'd say fry his dopefiend @$$ too!

So, in light of what you say, if you tell me I should view/treat James as I would Kelly, I would flatly agree with you.

And concede I probably should have abstained from saying your being a fan of Kelly perpetutes your abuse. I apologize, because that's not an especially empathetic thing to say.

And, of course, I leave it completely to you to decided how to reconciled what happened to you.

But I DO think that anytime we help empower a criminal, we make it easier for him to continue to perpetrate his evil. And if we aren't careful, eventually said evil may be visited upon us and/or our loved ones.

So, perhaps you should consider that as you "bump-n-grind" to Kelly's (mostly simpleminded/trite) music.
