Hey, I was thinking. Since some (Hell, most!) of us are anxiously awaiting the return of Thumper from his self-induced hibernation (Chris, remember the Odin-Sleep?), after which we may never ‘see’ each other again, I was thinking why not in merriment observe the awaiting that fateful day when His Highness doth return (and by his Great Hand make all things yet right and pure within our World). Let’s make fun of counting down the "Day of Doom". We can look at it as sort of cyberative "Eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow we die."
Thus, let the nihilistic frivolity commence!

Yes I remember the Odin Sleep. A handy little plot device Stan and Jack dreamed up so that all hell could break loose while Odin was off the scene (after all, if he's the omnipotent All-Father, how is it any evil can take place. I know! We'll put him to sleep! All hell can break loose while he's snoring--and we can keep him under for two, three issues and really milk it!)
Only if you remember the tales, he usually granted somebody his power whilst he was nodding so that they could keep order--

Okay. I know promised not to rundown your beloved Viggo (which hurts me more than you can know). But didn't "Aragorn" and "Legolas" appear especially 'close'. Then you got "Legolas" runnin' around in a tre-gay, skintight Jolly Green Giant outfit (that would make even Robin Hood and his band of 'merry menz' quite jealous).
I don't know. But I'm thinking maybe "Aragorn" was using elfin Princess "Arwen" as a 'beard' to disguise his true love for "Legolas". That would also explain why Arwen's pops "Lord Elrond" was trynah keep her away from "Aragorn": He knew that "Aragorn" was on the "down low". |

Did you read "Thor" during early/mid '80's when it was written/illustrated by Walt "The Wizard" Simonson. Highlights include the introductions of the Casket of a 1,000 Winters, Malekith, Loreli (Entrantress' younger/hottie sister) Kurse and the Mjolnir-worthy Beta Ray Bill. Simonson's run also included the origin of the Odin Force, Fire Demon Surtur finally claims the Doomsday Sword and uses it to smash the Bifrost Bridge to pieces and things gets so dire that even the malevolent Loki fights to help save Asgard.
I think if you had read "Thor" during that period, some of your views about Marvel comic books might differ from what they are now (or at least what they 'appear' to be).
