I can't be the only here who thinks that Thumper and this 'Liberti' person really need to check their (flatulent?) egos at the door.
But it's ok if no one else agrees. I wouldn't want to contribute to getting any of you (GOD forbid!) "suspended". |

I don't see how you can form an opinion about someone who has only put up three posts. Is it her subject matter that has you up in arms or is it more basic than that. Is your dislike of liberti based upon some need to defend your "friend" at all costs? Would you be feeling this way if her post had been about someone else? |

A_womon (& WHOEVER else),
I can only go by what I have witnessed of Liberti's behavior. And thus far I am WHOLLY unimpressed by what she appear to be capable of doing.
One of the strengths of this site has been it allows people of varying perspectives, educations, backgrounds to share their views about an assortment of issues. Thus, I welcomed what promised to be an expansion or augmentation of this site. But her contributions thus far have been nothing of the sort.
All we have received from her is vapid, incendiary references that she herself does not even have the gonads to directly defend, which is COMPLETELY antithetical to the nature and spirit of Thumper's Corner. Even Troy and the Thumper, the owner/manager of this site do not consider themselves to be above the fray of 'throwin' down' amongst the rest of us in the way in the way in which this Liberti (oxymoron?) person seemly feels that she is.
Consider this: Liberti has been online for nearly a week now and the only "gossip" she has uttered has pertained to questions about the authenticity of and responses to someone that has been a (easy) lightning rod of controversy on this site for years.
Where is the 'dope' on upcoming books, popular books that have been option to be made into cinematic/TV/cable movies, rejected books submission, authors moving to-fro publishers, industry infighting, authors who hate/love each other, etc.?
What happened? Has all of the rigmarole about "You Know Who" has cause her to have a brain cramp or something?
I agree that often things get outtah hand around here. I admit to having often contributed to that. But I find it insulting that someone can appear from nowhere and judge me...f@$king ME.
Pardon me, but at the risk of appearing arrogant, I must say that I have regularly contributed a very informative, sophisticated and provocative level and caliber of discourse to this site. Hell, I could give grammar lessons to Pulitzer Prize winners. And I defy you, Troy, Thumper...ANYONE...to (even) attempt to argue the converse.
So for this chick to just appear from the cybernetic ether, start spouting off a whole lottah of nothing, then have the unearned audacity to criticize myself and others who have contributed A LOT more to this site than she has just, frankly, pisses me off!
Now, if Liberti is willing to mix it up like everyone else, then to that I say welcome and bravo. And I will at best I can be respectful of what she has to say. Otherwise, she really should just meekly go away or...at least shut the f@#& up!
To avoid the (seemly inevitable) rancor that ensures, it is probably best we avoid arguing the relatives merits of "You Know Who".
But I will say this: I find it interesting that you appear to defend Liberti, but not Thumper. Could it be that you agree with me about Thumper?
Or could YOU perhaps be Liberti? |

I wish I were Liberti, but one thing you should know about me is I aint scared to mix it up as you call it with anyone. I find it quite interesting that you and others in your group think that I am her. I would RELISH the privelidge and opportunity to hold down a board like this.
I have never thrown a stone at anyone and run.
And regardles of Age, wit, wisdom, knowledge, college degrees or any other titles/stations in life that cause some to THINK that makes them superior to me I said it once and I'll say it again I AINT SCARED!
Having said that, I'm not saying Liberti is scared either, but who are you or anyone else to tell another what's fitting for them to talk/gossip about? And I don't know how I feel about Liberti and I'm not gonna know until I see what's she's about. Hell, she might be a he for all I know!!
As for me commenting on Thumper's ego, I choose not to. But I will say this: It is his house and while I may not agree with everything he does, I am not going to step to anyone in their domain and presume to tell them how to run things. I respect Thumper fo' sho!! That is why when I was suspended I didn't change my screen name and post anyway, because I have respect for another person's house. And if I want to run thangs then I ought to have sense enought to get my own discussion board and run it like I want. OK????
I am smart enough to know that there is a lot of hard work that goes into the upkeep of a site like this so who am I to say what it takes to keep it running smoothly unless I have tried it.

I have no formal education whatsoever myself, A_Womon, so on that...I can definitely identify with you.
Despite speaking Arabic, Dutch and a bunch of other useless languages...I had to scrape, crawl, beg and "connive" my way out of invisibility and hardship.
But such a journey also enriches and educates us and makes us compassionate to others.
It also makes us tough fighters who can hold our own.
I admire your gumption...even if your "taste" IS all in your mouth.
I also truly believe that in his heart..Thumper is a good person, just misunderstood and a kind of "artist" like the rest of us.
And you're right, A_Womon, I've never been welcomed in Thumper's House...but have always crashed the gate in the yard anyway.
Some family is like that.

Baby, I have never thought you to be 'skurd' of anything.
If you say you are not Liberti, I will believe that and avoid making any other references to such. I would agree that you appear to be more than willing to "be about yours".
Besides, I did not really presume you to be Liberty anyway.
Actually, the quips about Thumper's ego and your possibly being "Liberti" were mostly my (apparently ineffectual) attempts at a bit of humorous irony.
I simply find it to be interesting that you would appear to defend someone who apparently does not even have the regard for the rest of us to answer for what she says.
I do not, because of my background or any other reason, presume myself to be per se "superior" to anyone else. And I find it puzzling that you would even appear to allude to that.
And how 'bout we just agree to disagree about what each of us think Thumper and this so-called Liberti person should/shouldn't do? K? Because while I definitely don't 'own' this 'house'...I sure as hell help 'build' it! |

Now that's what I'm talkin' about. My hat's off to you, WAY TO GO.
If I didn't know better I would think that I wrote that. Now you know I've been called Thump's Sargent Of Arm, his door man, his muscle and everything else from uttering those same words. But what you said is so true. It's his house, he tries to keep it clean. Yeah, he shows his ass some time (who doesn't) BUT, as you said, It's his house. It's very easy and low ball, if I may say, to snipe at this man knowing his hands are tied. Yet, YET, some consistently continue to do it. Now I ain't trying to pick a fight, because what I say is true. Now I don't care if Boo-Boo the fool was running the jount, if I respect his thang and derive great pleasure from visiting his house, it's only right I give him the utmost respect. But for sure, if Thump says something in the course of one of our "discussions" that leaves his ass hangin' out I'm going to tell him.....have told him. If he's posting as a reader and drops some foul mess, then hey, he's far game. But I am never NEVER going to get in the way of a man doing his job and will defend him with whatsoever limited tools I have to do so!! You all know I call it like I see it, I value that quality about myself so if you're riding with me, come on, let's do this. But if you start stankin' I'm going to pull over and tell you to check yourself and I expect the same from you. If you are a friend of mine, don't let me stand around with snot hangin' from my nose, pull my coat.......please.

My intention was always to allow all posters to contribute, debate, and discuss my posts on Off The Record. That is the purpose of the board. The fact that no one could post has nothing to do with me, that is Troy's decision. So now that I am hooked to both sites I will freely answer all rebuttal posted here to me or about topics I post until the problem of posting on OTR is fixed. I have no reason to hide. The problem here was mis-communication on both parts. For my part, I apologize for having angered posters by not informing them they could not post . . . now what was yours? Rude perhaps?

I agree that 'She' can cause I scintillating row (for reasons most of us are too proud to concede). And obviously I enjoy mixing it up with/about her. But I think we all, including 'She', would benefit from a break.

abm: Parrot, no...not me. A better word would be to embrace. Oh, the limitations of the written word and language in general.
At any rate, I can appreciate A_womon's sentiments(as I interprete it), for I oft believe that people, here and in general, erroneously conflate wisdom, age, respect, and authority...these qualities and characteristics are often incongruous.
Ok, let me return to my well lit cave....damn, uh. shiiiit...too many boulders, rocks, and gravel on da damn ground...I need a shovel or sum thin so I can clear this up.
