Why is everbody so upset at the way things came out on the last American Idol Show? It makes sense to me, that because the 3 best singers was black women, this caused the black vote to be split among them thereby allowing the lesser talents to garner more votes.

Line 3 should read: ...that because the 3 best singers "were" black women instead of "was" black women... (Gotta be grammatically correct, you know.)

and hence, the voting system for American Idol should be changed to where you can vote for people you want OFF the show, not the other way around.

Good idea, Kc-trudiva, if it would work. But it could just end up with one bloc of votes neutralizing another bloc, thereby producing the same results. Personally, I think this show has run its course because instead of it being a talent search, it's turning into a popularity contest with racial overtones.

"A popularity contest with racial overtones"--

Sounds like America.

Cynique,
If you eliminated the element of a "...popularity contest with racial overtones." from all other forms of Arts & Entertainment, there would be FEW movies, TV, radio, theatre, music, books, etc...etc...

Well, ABM, if that's the case, then we have to say that the talented brotha Reuben Studdard who won this competition last year took the prize because he was popular and because he was black. (And this may very well be true.)

Chris, if the presidential race degenerates into a popularity contest with racial overtones, then we're in for 4 more years of the shamelessly untalented George Bush. Brothers and Sisters, let us bow our heads and pray.

The presidential race has always has been a popularity contest. Folks seem to like this sawed- off son of a &!tch that proved his point. Yeah! The US can reach across the water and whip the $hit out of a little Islamic country whenever it gets ready. Hooray!!! We can get a $hit!oad more of our young Americans killed by keeping troops over there way too long after the 'war' was declared over. Any other countries want to run their own country without checking with Georgie first so that we can send some more youngsters to get killed off?

I get sick to my stomach everyday when I watch the news and the first thing they talk about is how many more young Americans got shot at or blown up in an ambush, or got stabbed while helping an old lady across the street. Is anybody else tired of this crap? Am I the only one who thinks that there is enough violence and crime here in the States for us to handle? We don't have to keep our boys over there to police a country that does not want to be policed. Yes, its a beautiful thing that George Bush has done. He has removed Saddam from power and he made sure there were no nukes over there to be used against us. Great! HEy, I'm impressed! Seriously! Can our American brothers and sisters come on up out of there, now? I feel like they are sitting ducks!

I've never read any post on this board that agreed with America's waging of this war against Iraq, Lambd, so you are in good company when you deplore it. Unfortunately, I don't see an end in sight, and a slight majority of brain-washed Americans support Bush's policies and will probably put the idiot back in office.
