I'm currently reading the 911 Commission Report book.

:-(!!!

Man. It is as bad as I thought things were...times 10!

I mean, I knew the government's handling of things prior, during and after 911 was inept, but even I couldn't have imagined that they did virtually EVERYTHING wrong.

As I read this book, I can't help thinking OVER/OVER/OVER again about how we have for decades been spending TRILLIONS of dollars for military, espionage, security, etc. that when needed most was WHOLLY ineffectual. I'm telling you, you read this stuff and it's like seeing bumbling blind rats chasing after cheese that's being dragged around in a labyrinth.

Example: Initially, Bush was falsely told by his national security staff that a small twin-engine commuter plane had crashed into the first WT Tower (BEFORE he had even sat down with those school kids in FL). Condelessa @$$ should have been fired IMMEDIATELY after that crap!

Abm:

Of course you will damn me for a conspiracy theorist, but--
It is certainly possible that these people are a bunch of bungling idiots, too tied to their own preconceptions and computers and satellite photos.

That's if you want to believe that somebody connected to the intelligence services did not want a "Pearl Harbor Style Event" (wording from the paper put out by the PNAC in the 90's.

I think that if they will release all this information showing them to be incompetent it just may be much much worse.

Chris,

You makes some compelling points about how/why some would be motivated to allow 911 to be this generation's Pearl Harbor. And I think I may post a topic within the Culture site about Conspiracy Theory’s

Still. I think that you should read this book before you draw any lasting conclusions about what happened.

Because it paints such an unflattering picture of what those people were doing, you might become truly convinced that they are indeed "a bunch of bungling idiots".

Honestly, if Americans thoroughly read, discerned and then acted up what transpired at both and individual and macroscopic level, at least half of the top 3 strata of the Bush Administration would have been forced to resign within a week of 9/11/01.

But, again, since so few us, Black/White/other, want to read, maybe they factored THAT into the calculus of their conspiratorial scheme.

And perhaps Bush was ‘selected’ as our puppet President to dumbdown the American psyche so much that we wouldn’t be able to see and appreciate the truth even when it is right before our own eyes.

MAN!

I am telling you, what happen surrounding 911 is like one part a Russian tragedy and one part a GOOD Saturday Nite Live skit.

I would be laughing :-) were it not for the tears. :-(
