Hello All,

I know this thread don't have a thing to do with books, but since my ol' Grayhead is back on the scene it's time to take a break and discuss boxing again. I am THOROUGLY DISGUSTED that Jones lost that fight! I can't stand Tarver! Can we talk about the definition of a lucky punch? I would hate to see Jones's career end with a loss to that fool. It don't seem right. Now, I'm going to sit in a corner and mope.

Well Thumper

There is life after boxing. Old George Foreman proved that.

RJJ was wayyyyyyyy too handsome to be fighting anyway. And a few more acting lessons, I think he will make a good movie actor. I loved him in the Matrix Reloaded. Well, I loved looking at him anyway.

See, that's what you get for standing behind a loud mouth, chicken raisin', dog fighten' fool like Roy Bones Junya. Yeah, I said it Roy "Bones". He had as much class as a skeleton. And Thump, you know your record on picking losers is infamous so had I kknown you were eating your popcorn with Roy Chicken Scratch Bones all on your mouth I would have raised my bet. I can't stand that clown and I couldn't stop cheering when his first person talking self was huggin the canvus with slobber drullin' from his fat lips. Man, that made my day.

Samai (for all of you that don't know if, that's A_Womon...not Wom"a"n), all that good stuff I said about you and your mind, I TAKE IT ALL BACK! No you didn't say Toy "ass"mossis Jones was handsome. Girl, you done lost your mind :-). See, just when I was about to take you on as my lil'sis' you done drop the Roy Boy on me. Ya never know....Ya never know.

Now Yukio, I ain't surprised at your little fainting spell *smile*.

Let's see what Roy Rodgers has to say now, if he can talk threw that fat lip. Yeah, Thump, I came back right in time, wouldn't want to have missed your condolence speech.

I can't believe you guys....

Hey, Roy Bone Boon-yer......Get up from that floor Roy boy, you're starting to smell like fish.

Carey: I wont say it was a lucky punch like Thumper, cuz it was too clean...but, I don't think anybody in the weight class would've gotten up, and I think if Jones evaded the punch...tarver would have lost....

I regret having not watch the fight. Because I for one am THRILLED that Jones was flattened!

The lesson Jones should learn: Just because one gains a lot of weight does not make one a Heavyweight fighter.

Hello All,

First off, the punch Tarver threw was indeed a lucky punch, a good counter punch. I say it was lucky because Tarver wasn't aiming that punch at all, his head was down and he was staring at the floor from the punch Jones had just threw a second before.

Second off, I haven't seen Tarver ever fight anyone of any consquence before Jones. So, I can't say that he was all that to start off with.

Third off, yeah Jones does do a lot of talk, but he's not in the same ball park as Tarver!! I'm so sick of hearing him running off at the mouth, I can barely see straight. And the Lord do hear prayers, because right in the middle of his victory talk with Larry Merchant, Tarver's voice left him and he couldn't speak anymore.

Fourth off, why didn't Tarver fight Jones in the heavyweight class, especially since his normal walking around weight is 210? The boxing game now already has too many weight classes and big boxers losing 40 to 50 pounds just to win a championship belt from boxers who naturally fit in the smaller weight classes.

Now, lets see if ol punk a__ Tarver is going to go to the heavyweight class, since he's all that, or even fight component boxers are stay with the no names.

Klb....ahh....ahh...I don't know your husband so I can't say anything bad about him but erraaa I sure can think of a better way to throw a fight than to get busted upside the head. People at ringside had to get tetnus shot because so much slobber was coming out of Roy Bones Jun_ya's mouth. Come on know, who's going to let somebody smash them in the face when it ain't about money. Come on know, Roy Boy got heavy loot so he ain't gotta throw no fight. And with his EGO..... please. Like I said, I'm sure you ol'man is a smart fellow but if you're going to throw a fight one might look at the Clay (Ali for you novice fight fans) VS Liston match, now that fight is suspect. Most people are still looking for the punch that floored Liston. Think about it, Toy Roy is making a Gadzillion Dollars a fight and Tarver was gettin a bus ticket and 10% of the popcorn receipts. Like I said your fellow is probably a good provider but.....ahh.

We were at a fight party the everyone pretty much agreed it was a fix. I think it is possible the RJ underestimated ole boy and got popped up side his head. It kind of looked like he was leaning into the punch though. I don't know golf ball from baseball so I can't say. Don't be picking on my baby or you and I can't be friends . If he say RJ took a fall , I say RJ took a fall.

Carey -

That was hilarious. I'm sorry I missed the fight, but I sure would like to catch the rerun. From what I hear about the punch that knocked Roy out, I doubt that it was fixed. If you gon' fix a fight, you ain't gon' get your head knocked off to do it! You'd do it like Liston. Lay down before you even get hit.

I didn't see the fight, so I should probably abstain from commenting. But I find it unlikely that a fighter of Jone's caliber and, more importantly...arrogance..."threw" the fight...especially considering how quickly it ended.

No, I guess what happened was Jones was fighting above his natural weight class and that caught up to him. Jone's extra weight obscures his reflexes and reaction time. And just because someone gains weight doesn't mean they have the chin and gut to take a punch from a more natural +200 pound fighter.

Imagine if Jone's were fighting a (now retired) Lennox Lewis or a '80's Mike Tyson. A_womon (you, BTW, are such a 'girl'), let's just say that AFTER RJJ had fought either of those dudes, he wouldn't be "wayyyyyyyy too 'handsome' to be fighting" anymore.

Carey,
I agree with SJ...those were HILARIOUS lines, especially your "People at ringside had to get tetnus shot because so much slobber was coming out of Roy Bones Jun_ya's mouth." and "...Tarver was gettin a bus ticket and 10% of the popcorn receipts..."

PRICELESS! HAHAHA!

KLB, I can respect that, if your baby thought it was a fix, then hey, from your perspective it was without a doubt a fix.

Thank You Solomon, I hope KLB is not listening but come on man, a fix. Could you just hear the conversation between the involved parties prior to the fight, trying to determine how they were going to throw the fight:

Tarver: "okay Roy, I'll throw a low blow and then you grimish in pain and then fall down"

Roy: "no no Tarver, I've been talkin' so much mess to your I want to apologize by letting you hit me square in the face as hard as you can, and then I'll fall. "Yeah that's right, I want you to knock me loony", I might even get back up and if I do I want you to deliver a tremendous blow to my noggin, Okay".

Tarver: "Okay Roy, how about I put a roll of quarters in my gloves to really F-you up".

Roy: "what a thinker you are, that would be great". So all that thrash talking was just that huh, talk, you really do love me, don't you".

Tarver: "Yeah man, I'm going to do right by you"

Roy: "Thanks brother, I'm going to put this on tape so I can look at it over and over"

Tarver: "One love brother" (high fives flying everywhere).

Roy: "back at ya baby, peace"

Solomon, why didn't we see that, I'm going to call ol'boy before the next fight. With that kind of insight a brother can't do nothin' but win. Shoot, I already
feel like a millionaire.

Peace my brother

Carey
